What Alisa H doesn't like about Sushi Ya:
Racist energy.. My fiancé whom is African American went to pick up our order on Saturday. At the front desk there was a young Asian girl that was completely rude and gave him attitude the ENTIRE time during his transaction. His bag was on the counter with other orders directly in front of him! , she grabs his bag, places it on the window seal and pushed it towards him to pick it up. Even the other hostess which was a... I love sushi ya. I have for all the years. Best sushi in sparta. That said, the wasabi varies in strength. Sometimes it is not hot, and I value hot Wasabi highly. See you Thursday. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Overall, the dining experience was quite average and a bit on the expensive side, but that’s to be expected in Sparta. The restaurant itself is charming, featuring a small but tastefully decorated dining area. The staff members were friendly and eager to assist. I placed an online order but was surprised to find that pre-payment wasn’t an option. That was a bit odd. As for the prices, they were on the higher end, which again aligns with the location. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t quite live up to expectations. The flavors were average, and the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. While there were no chopsticks provided, we did receive forks, spoons, and packets of soy sauce, but there were no fortune cookies despite our inquiry about them. We had requested "No Broccoli, please" due to dietary restrictions, but regrettably, the Nake Yaki Soba included broccoli anyway. The meal was served in three separate containers: a broth, a mix of noodles and ingredients, and a small tin with two tempura shrimp. The broth smelled wonderful but was disappointingly bland upon tasting. The shrimp were enjoyable on their own. The container of noodles was tightly packed with chicken, fish cake, crab stick, and egg, which were all quite good. The noodles themselves had the perfect consistency and were easy to integrate into the broth. However, the mix contained predominantly raw onions and bell peppers, with only a few cooked vegetables like scallions, bok choy, one piece of baby corn, and, unfortunately, broccoli. This overshadowed the overall experience, as the dominant flavor was that of the raw bell peppers. The Vegetable Tempura appetizer met our expectations, consisting of two pieces each of zucchini and sweet potato, along with one piece that we think was taro, and yet another piece of broccoli. Once again, we had to discard the broccoli, which felt wasteful, especially since we had specifically requested none. If we choose to return, we'll likely just stick to sushi, considering it’s in their name. It seems they may not focus as much on the non-sushi items on the menu. **Parking:** There is plenty of free parking available in a large public lot. **Wheelchair Accessibility:** The restaurant is accessible, but note that the ramp is a bit steep. Additionally, the parking lot has some hilly and uneven areas, so be cautious.
