Fu's - Sparta
Fu's
Description
A longstanding neighborhood staple blending Chinese and Japanese fare, praised for fresh sushi, generous portions, a huge menu, friendly service (notably manager Ron), and good value. Recent management refreshed the sushi offerings and consistency. Most visits are pleasant and nostalgic, though an isolated complaint about a foreign object in takeout and a disputed refund has raised cleanliness and customer-service concerns for one reviewer. Overall a dependable, casual spot for locals and sushi lovers, with standout soups and familiar comfort dishes.

Having grown up in Sparta, I often heard countless rumors about Fu's. I can't say for sure if any of them were true, but as a kid, it was always entertaining to believe in some of them. As for the restaurant itself, it's not extraordinary, but it's certainly not bad either. It falls pretty much in the middle in terms of quality, with not much to distinguish it. While I wouldn't choose to dine there when I'm back home, passing by it brings back memories of my childhood, which is something special in itself.
This is a response to a one-star review from six months ago. Based on the details in the picture provided, I believe what you're looking at is General Tso's Chicken. This dish contains dried peppers, and the item shown in the photo is simply the skin of a dried pepper. There are no dead bugs present. Additionally, our restaurant undergoes an annual inspection by the health department, and we make sure to clean thoroughly at the end of each day to maintain a tidy environment. You can rest assured that there are no health issues to worry about. Lastly, if you're interested in trying some Chinese cuisine or other Asian dishes such as sushi or Thai food, we offer a variety of options! Thank you.
The only dish you absolutely have to try here is the pork fried rice paired with chicken wings—it's the best item on the menu!
