Diners enjoy a familiar menu featuring well-crafted pub classics like fish and chips, complemented by an unexpected curry sauce. With spacious interiors, cozy nooks, and a lovely outdoor terrace, the venue offers a delightful dining experience, particularly with views of the Thames. While service is generally efficient, the cashless payment system has drawn criticism. Some minor issues, such as the restroom facilities, need attention. Overall, The Anchor stands out for its ambiance, good food, and convenient location for a casual visit or a special occasion.
Had a great time here, good pub classics (fish and chips and cakes), eating all served quickly and hot. good atmosphere observed the six nationen, good service speed, it was busy, but the staff was efficient, good choice of drinks. would recommend oh and the dachgarten above has a cool view of the city.
I would rate my experience as a thorough. it is a beautiful place, beautiful interieur and good location at the river. I shared a steak pipe and a fish and chips with my friend. she didn't like the cake, so I ate it. I found it okay, nothing special. we ordered the baked braut as an apetiser who made all happy. it is nice to go by to have a good and a pint.
Beautiful view of the river. we had drinks in the outside, and curious we had to get the drinks from inside and cross the footpath to get back to the sitting area. I didn't try to eat.
What more can they expect from their traditional pub meal on Friday, a well-made fish n chips like the poms know how to do, the star despite the large pieces of kabeljau was the curry sauce, not usual in Australians, but damn it works with a piece well boiled beer dipped fish.
When I first saw the Anchor, the cottage look, the plants outside and red wooden windows just melted my heart, then you come closer and the ghosts of its history speak to you through the medieval dark stones of the building. On entrance amongst the loud friendly voices of the crowds, the comforting aromas of simple delicious home cooking and the cozy Art Deco interior, the walls tell tales of history, drama, tragedy, crime and adventure! You could lose yourself pondering over a traditional pale ale or a mature Whiskey cocktail!! Another historical London icon.
