Sushi Zen - Southlake

The fish was fresh, and the rice had the perfect consistency. But what truly made this a 5/5 dining experience was the excellent service.

We are consistently amazed by the freshness and flavor of everything we order. We've never been disappointed or felt underwhelmed. The sushi and sashimi are top-notch every single time!

The Caterpillar roll was particularly tasty and is what I use to gauge many sushi restaurants. It did have a few larger bones, but since eels often have those, I'll overlook one or two unless it’s a place that claims to be as good as the Gaylord Texan! My husband usually orders a California roll and a volcano roll. At Sushi Zen, we tried their Toreador roll, which was made with crab, Serrano chilis, avocado, topped with scallops and a spicy mayo. My husband declared it "very yummy." My daughter's dumplings (gyozas) were absolutely delicious—she finished them all! We will definitely be ordering from Sushi Zen again. I have to say, it would take a lot for me to go back to Asian Top or Sushi Sam after this. Oh, and I checked the dessert menu before we left with our takeout; they offer Mochi Ice Cream and Mango Sorbet! Plus, they deliver for FREE! However, a downside when ordering takeout or dining in during peak lunchtime is the wait. My food took 30 minutes to arrive around noon on a Saturday, even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded. My suggestion? Call ahead—whether eating in or getting delivery, I recommend placing your delivery order about 45 minutes in advance and considering about 15 minutes before going in to dine if they allow it. Just a helpful tip!
