red/bar brasserie - Southampton

All and all a ok experience. a bit expensive and the weelist can use some help. very nice environment.

Eating was bland and nothing to write home about. my man got the ktenmignon and ordered it medium, it was well done. the waiter asked about him, but never offered to have another filet or something. very expensive for under-average meal times. never go back or recommend.

Overall experience was good, but with some hiccups. the waiter did not seem to be able to get our friends cocktail right. immediately at dinner she ordered the salmon without the glaze and it came with the glaze cooked and had to be returned. our other friend has the osso bucco and judges it fair. my wife had the fish specialist she had ruffled, and I had the lambs that were great. the flourless chocolate cake dessert was excellent. there would definitely be another visit.

My wife and I live in Southampton and go to Red Bar every year around this time, per her request, to celebrate her birthday. We have been doing this every year for about 20 years now and it never gets old. The food is always creative and delicious, the service top notch, and the ambiance low key romantic. This has attracted us to this place since it opened. We prefer dining there during the week when the room is a little less noisy, but otherwise a great place for a special occasion.

Always consistent and always very good. Service is attentive and unintrusive--as it should be.
