We traveled from New York for a short holiday, and when we struggled to find good food in the chic suburban restaurants, we decided to head to Southall. There, we discovered the best BBQ-style Desi food. We ordered mutton karahi, mixed grill, and roghni naans, and everything was fantastic. Anyone visiting London should definitely try Watan. The service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. View all feedback.

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't meet our expectations. We ordered the Afghani mixed grill special, and the portion sizes were surprisingly small given the price. I could have easily finished most of it myself, even though it was supposed to serve two people. The rice lacked flavor, and the chicken and lamb were not very appetizing. After waiting a good 20 minutes, we finally managed to get a table at this place. The restaurant is small therefore becomes very busy so be prepared to queue. The best thing about this place is its authentic decor. There is also a fish tank lined against the dining tables so you can watch the tiny goldfish in the tank while you wait for your food to arrive. I had a quick glance of their menu on Zomato before we drove to this place. However I was a little surprised to find that the prices had slightly increased from what is listed this site when it came to placing our order. Nevertheless, we had lamb afghani, chicken tikka masala, whole grilled chicken with 3 afghani naans. I found the portions of all 3 main dishes to be quite small. Maybe it was because the naans were absolutely huge in comparison. The chicken tikka masala was a little too spicy. The whole grilled chicken was average but I quite enjoyed the lamb afghani as the lamb was moist and tender. For me, it wins the best dish of the evening. As the restaurant is busy, the service is impacted but the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, pretty good restaurant compared to others in the area which offers decent value for money.
Went here with my friends and the food was always on point. A few of my friends are skeptical about trying new food, and I took the risk and they loved it and are already planning to come back. The kebab was overcooked and we didn't complain but the waiter Wali, he noticed and gave us freshly cooked extras for free. He gave his excellent service.
Great food and service. Don’t let the decor put you off, the food is pleasantly surprising, cooked fresh and extremely tasty. Would have given 5 stars but the toilet left something to be desired.
Best food I have had so far. The vibe and the food of this restaurant is fab. I celebrated my dad’s bday here today. And also a office Christmas dinner last to last week. And I visit this place often with my fiancé. My forever favourite is kabuli pulao and Afghani lamb tikka. Actually all food items are delicious and even the kheer. The staff is also very friendly and nice. This place is gonna be my forever favourite restaurant. Love it.
