I came across a post on Instagram mentioning where they were that day, so I decided to check out the restaurant. What User doesn't like about Quinta Food Stall:
The vegan dish is made with black beans. I ordered the food combo, which included fried plantains and a side of red cabbage slaw, also known as madwort. It was incredibly tasty and definitely unique. The three stars reflect the fact that there was only one vegan option on the menu and the price seemed a bit high, possibly due to the location at the Victoria Cardinal Square market. I ordered the vegan option, which was filled with black beans. I decided to get the meal deal, which also included fried plantain and a red slaw, which they called Sauerkraut. It was delicious and a unique combination. I gave it three stars because there was only one vegan option available and the price seemed a bit high, possibly due to being located at Victoria Cardinal Place Market.
I saw a post on Instagram detailing the location of this restaurant for the day, so I decided to stop by and check it out. I was intrigued by the 'pupusas' on offer, so I tried one of the vegetable options and it was delicious! The small salad and fresh sauce that came with it were perfect complements. The stall had a great atmosphere too. I asked Arthur if they would be in Putney on Saturday, but he informed me that the opening times listed on HappyCow were incorrect. He recommended checking their Instagram for their current locations.
I made a special trip to try this restaurant as it sounded unique. Despite their website stating their hours were 10-3 on Saturdays at St Mary's Church in Putney, they were not there when I arrived. The rest of the market was open and operating. I waited from 10:30 to 11:00 and tried contacting them through their website, but have not received a response. Based on my experience, I would say they are unreliable. If you happen to be in the area, it might be worth stopping by (as another reviewer mentioned that their food was good), but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for them.
We happened upon Arthur and his stand in the seemingly vegan black-hole of Putney on Saturday. This super-friendly guy will cook up fresh pupusas in front of your eyes, served with home-made sauerkraut (and fried plantain for a little extra money). What are pupusas? They’re a street food staple from El Salvador made with cornmeal stuffed with a variety of flavours. We tried them filled with black beans and red beans with courgette. Both were delish!! The menu board helpfully has all the allergens listed for each option, the menu is 98% vegetarian with a good number of vegan options! Only one meat option hence the 4 stars. Arthur is really friendly, so why not go down there on a Saturday for a chat and some yummy homemade pupusas? We’ll be back!
