This is a good solid and large Sunday lunch, the quality is not that of a high class restaurant, but is good the staff are kind and helpful, if I live in the area would be my choice for a large sunday lunch. The pork and Lamb I had where well good and served on a large pile of veg, with a large yorkshire. The only thing i was not keen was the cabbage wish was a little water for being boil to long, but the other veg was... What jarralads doesn't like about Lord Nelson Inn:
The atmosphere is good when a live band is on on but it can get busy at times. Personally I don't think it has much atmosphere despite living down the road I frequent other Pubs. The Staff are friendly but you can miss your turn at the bar if you aren't known. The food is often hit and miss and basic middle of the road food. Always been my local, such a quiet and cheap place for a few drinks. Great and quick service from kai. Will be coming back.
Was at The Lord Nelson on Saturday 29th June just gone for some drinks and we had a quick bite to eat to .Food was nice and the service was excellent got served a few times from a lad called kai was very helpful and polite and got served very quickly every time by him and thats what you need when your out . So thankyou kai for making are night.
I was here with me and friends for a couple drinks , and the service I got from staff was amazing, especially the barmaid called Heather , very friendly and will definitely be coming again soon
Came in for a spot of fat scran. The barmaid Dion rang through the order with delicacy and manners. The bacon and cheese toastie by the chef macca was unreal.
I don’t even know where to start!!! Having ate at the Nelson many times and always enjoyed the food, we decided to go for Sunday lunch. Deciding not to have a roast dinner, we ordered some of the small plates and a mixed grill. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium but this unfortunately was so over cooked it had to be left and the peas were clearly reheated. The small plates had been cremated and we were shocked that we were being presented with burnt food. We decided to have a desert in the hope that it would make up for the poor lunch we had just had. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding. One bite and I discovered it was ginger sponge with toffee sauce on top. I complained to the young lady behind the bar but was not offered a refund or even at least a free desert or drink as an apology. Not sure why the Nelly has gone down hill of late but we’ve decided to give the place a miss for a while. Seemed understaffed too.
