I thought only for a pint, but friendly staff, comfortable, large garden and outdoor seats for families and dogs (dog friendly pub). I don't think they're offering lunch at the moment, but they have the usual bar snacks. View all feedback.
What Maz Andrews doesn't like about The Sun Inn:
Sunday. Called in after walking the dog and happy to see they weren’t busy and looking forward to their Sunday Roast. They served us drinks but wouldn’t take our food order as they were too busy (4 tables looked occupied) and only one person in the kitchen. We had our drinks and left . This is second time I’ve been and the service is extremely poor. Unfriendly and not welcoming at all. A shame as the garden has been... View all feedback.
There appears to have a change of ownership. We were told we were lucky to be there, we disagreed. The staff are poor as well as rude. We ordered sparkling water and some prawns, neither were available. There are several excellent pubs within a few miles, avoid this one.
The restaurant is now under new management and the new team is working hard to improve the place. They have gone back to basics and started fresh. The beer is reasonably priced and the food, while basic, is good. I will definitely return.
This place was once beautifully run. It is sadly now a shell of a pub. The beer is OK but it has lost the soul the kitchen provided by Giles and Nina. It offers basic sandwiches and nothing much else to write home about. Such a shame. It had become the hub of the community in so many ways. Sad to see somewhere with so much potential sit in a sorry state.
We had a lovely lunch today April 2021, no Sunday roast due to outside dining but the food was delicious, freshly made: homemade coleslaw, great burger and fresh fish. Family and dog friendly, new seating area, although we chose to sit in a smaller area, in the quiet rural location just the birds tweeting. Not far from Pangborne or even Reading TC..
Four of us enjoyed a nice lunch at this restaurant. The portions were generous. One of us tried the unconventional ham, egg, and chips dish with belly pork, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and chips. It was good, but we couldn't help but wonder why they would change the classic dish of ham, egg, and chips served with thick slices of home-cooked gammon. The service was friendly and the restaurant had a nice, cozy atmosphere in an old pub setting.
