Very rare we leave reviews for places but just wow to this b and b and its owners. Viv and John went over and above for us during our stay. We couldn’t fault anything from the bbq hunters chicken, bread and butter pudding, the love they showed to our GSD, the dog treats, the comfy bed. The list is endless. What fire6441 doesn't like about The Lion:
A rather unusual experience of entering a proper locals pub and not being stared at like I'm somekind of alien. The locals were lovely, the landlord and landlady were excellent, the decor was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, clean and welcoming, but, I went in for food and a beer, the Scallops were some of the best I've ever had in the UK and the fish main was perfect. A really lovely traditional English pub. The landlord is very welcoming and made us feel at home. The landlady is the excellent chef making very good food. We will look forward to returning soon.
This is a true local's pub. There was live music on, which was great. The landlady is a lovely, friendly lady, and the young waitress is a lovely girl. We felt that the menu was fairly limited (particularly the lack of vegetarian starters and cold desserts), but the food is cooked fresh and you can see through to the kitchen.
This restaurant was a fantastic discovery and we only wish we could have stayed longer. They are incredibly dog-friendly here, with attentive and friendly hosts. The food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant is located in a peaceful village with rooms that have lovely views of the countryside, creating a charming country pub atmosphere.
Stayed for one night and what a gem The White Lion at Wicken was. Fabulous hosting with delicious evening meals. The breakfast was also a highlight. Our room was well decorated and very comfortable. Looking forward to returning.
I recently stayed at the wonderful White Lion for 2 nights and had a very pleasant experience. Viv and John were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Viv's cooking was exceptional. Thank you both for a memorable stay. We look forward to returning in the future.
