What WelliLottie dislikes about Rose and Crown:
So disappointing, unfortunately the restaurant was freezing, its December and there was no heating on, i had to put my coat back on. The food was cold and it was obvious that the plates were not hot. The steak was so chewy and even after letting the staff know, nothing was done at the time. Over priced for a cold restaurant and cold poor quality food. View all feedback.

That was my first visit. friendly attentive staff. fab ambiente. fantastic Sunday midday loads from him delicious! (sticky toffee puddinb was to die! wein was beautiful LBV port, even better! book a return for the next Saturday evening, while still on the table today, so it says everything!
Fantastic eating. workers who love their job clearly. so chatting and pleasant. nothing was too much annoyed. I can't judge this place or the personal high enough.
Celebrated my Dads 80th Birthday here today , superb food , fantastic Service . Overall a great experience. Smashing pub
Nestled in a cozy locale, this restaurant offers a mix of experiences. While many patrons rave about the beautifully presented dishes, attentive staff, and inviting atmosphere, some diners have expressed disappointment over the cold environment and lukewarm plates. The standout items include a delectable Sunday roast, scrumptious sticky toffee pudding, and a well-curated selection of ales and ports. Reservations are recommended, especially for those dining with pets. Despite some issues with heating, the overall consensus highlights exceptional service and quality food, making it a venue that visitors are eager to return to in the future.

Amazing NYE meal with the family at this welcoming and cosy pub. Great service from start to finish, food was really high quality. Choices for the kids (and quality/size) was really impressive plus really great selection of ales and gins. Can’t wait to go back, 10/10!
Came here for a lunchtime meet up with friends. Various main courses ordered by our party. Can personally recommend the braised ox cheeks and cheeseboard washed down with a good bottle of Chilean merlot. Can also recommend the Phipps ale. Will return
Not local to the area, we stopped off at the Rose and Crown for lunch, and we were not disappointed. We had not booked but were lucky to be seated at the last available table (we arrived around 2.00 pm). I had the Brie and cherry tomato pasta with tempura veg and it was absolutely amazing. Hubby had the homemade steak and Stilton pie which did not skimp on the steak; he said it was the tastiest he’d had. All the staff couldn’t be more helpful; attentive but not overbearing, ensuring you had a drink when needed. We will definitely make the journey to visit again (although we’ll make sure we book). Unusual to find a place that ticked all the boxes but this definitely did! Can’t wait to return!
Lovely festive menu lunch 6 of us all absolutely enjoyed a variety of dishes ox cheek amazing apparently so was the sea bass. If there was the slightest little niggle, the plates were cold, hence the meals weren't very warm, but we find this to be the case in lots of places. Couldn't fault the staff, Jo Evie very pleasant attentive but not over the top! Thank you all for a very good experience.

Gorgeous food, last time I ate here was over 30 years ago, will definitely not be waiting that long before we return. There were 20 of us dining, celebrating a bday Table booked 7.00 starters came out 7.45, a long wait. We hadn't ordered a starter didn't want to add any more pressure in ordering another starter so order some chips as we were hungry guessed it would be at least another 40 mins before mains would be served. Mains serviced around 8.30-9.45.We had Seabass, gorgeous. We were eyeing up others chicken pie, which we were told was really lovely; so will go back to try that out. Puddings were very nice. Forgot to take pics of food as too busy talking but they did a happy birthday pud for our friend, nice touch. No music so not much of an atmosphere, not sure if they usually play music, I'm guessing not. We were a large group so we really didn't need any back ground noise. Waitresses did a good service but were rather miserable in my opinion, not very welcoming considering we were spending a small fortune. Drinks as you would expect were expensive £11 for a glass of Malbec, but it was really nice, easy to drink. Chairs were uncomfortable, some sort of lattice effect my delicate derriere was still sore the following evening. Beer garden looked nice. Lovely building clean toilets. Despite the wait the chef kitchen staff are an asset to this business, well done Parking: Seemed to be enough parking spaces
Live just a few miles away and haven't been since lock down. We had the Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings, all freshly prepared and served by friendly staff. The atmosphere was relaxed with no background music interfering, car parking and access is easy and there is good choice of ales. We shall definitely be returning and thoroughly recommend. Parking: Plenty of spaces. Service: Dine in
