What Steve G doesn't like about Chef Jefs:
These premises are no longer open. There is a notice in the window that it is re-opening as a coffee shop. Opening Date is unknown It will not trade as Shef Jefs View all feedback.
Good food was very impressed with the menu. Only negative is not knowing if the restaurant will be open in the evening.
I cannot tell you how many times my wife and I have tried to sample the food here. We love to eat out as you will see from the number of TA reviews I have done in the past, but each time we have tried to eat here the place has been closed. I cannot understand just how this place does business. Last Saturday my wife and I tried one more time to go for lunch here. We arrived at 13:00 to find a very rough scribbled note on the door with the opening times for the week (not a very professional way of doing things for a new business trying to compete in my opinion). For Saturdays, it clearly stated that the place was open from 10:30 through to 15:00 hrs. There were no lights on absolutely nothing. We came back several times within the next hour, but just the same door locked and no light and no additional notice to say that the place was closed for whatever reason. It 's simply not worth the effort as we have tried so many times. For someone who has stated the following: After graduating from Jamie Olivers London Fifteen, Chef Jefs Fresh has opened up in Lanark 26 bloomgate lanark ml11 9et , I feel that the words opened up are not quite the appropriate choice of words!!!! I just wish that we had kept a note of all the times we had tried to sample the food here which let 's be honest may actually be excellent but we will never know. I 'm sure that the Chef concerned will have learnt a lot from The Jamie Olivers London Fifteen course, but one thing is for sure there couldn 't have been a great deal on the course in terms of business management.
We’ll eventually found it open- we phoned and booked although they don’t normally take lunch bookings! Took our own booze as advertised and told couldn’t do that until 6pm but they’d let us off!!! Hello BYOB IS WHAT IT SAYS put a notice up if it’s not allowed prior to 6pm. Anyway we both wanted the steak sandwich and asked if we could have it blue answer after consulting chef Jef came back yes but only had one so fine. Ordered one chicken and chorizo and one blue steak one. They had to go out and buy the chorizo from Lidl as they’d run out! Sandwiches duly arrived and steak was well done and to my personal taste inevitable- shoe leather springs to mind. They denied saying they were able to do it blue despite my asking and they confirmed it would be. And me saying on ordering blue steak. Refused to accept it and eventually asked if I wanted anything else- answer no. I did eat my husbands red cabbage coleslaw which tasted nice However within an hour of eating it I had horrendous diarrhoea and as that’s their only thing I’ve eaten today I can only put the upset stomach down to this. Didn’t appreciate the drug related music in the background My advice is to walk on by don’t even bother to stop. I’ll never ever go there again. In bed with a iffy stomach and ruined Saturday night. Just don’t go there- most rubbish place in Lanark

My husband and I randomly found Chef Jeff's for Sunday lunch and we are so glad we did. The mac and cheese was delicious and the smashed avocado with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit.
