We drive up and down frequently to Aberdeen from Birmingham and are always too focused on getting to the destination. This time, we took a short detour and sat with exquisite views enjoying exquisite food. So glad we did. View all feedback.
What Diamond280 doesn't like about Auchlochan Bistro:
Well situated in this retirement village and it's a hub of the community which is so important . The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent value for money. The prawn cocktail , soups . Macaroni cheese, salmon fillet and scampi all good. View all feedback.
Having had a delicious meal before we decided to return to the Auchlochan Bistro in another local Amazon offer. It would have been better to have left our previous visit as a pleasant memory. My husband started with tomato and basil soup, and said it was very nice, in fact I tried, and was. I had what they had on the menu as ordinary farm pate but instead it was a soft Brussels type that I wouldn't have chosen if I knew it wasn't what was on the menu. He had a Chutney tomato that was very good and some mini cakes. For the main dishes we had (my husband) lasagna and fries (me) chicken in mustard cream sauce. The lasagna had completely lost with any seasoning but the fries were fine. My chicken was supposed to be stew legs but chicken breast slices arrived. Accompaniments were puree of potatoes with puerros, there was only a spoonful of this, it was a strange yellow and green color had that crispy crispy texture of frozen puré warmed for a long time in a microwave and all the swimming in a fine sauce. So maybe there was so little of the potato was a blessing. They are supposed to come with 'garden vegetables but not vegetables, variety garden or otherwise, makes their appearance. The last time we were there we were so full at this stage we were on a flank but that was not the situation today. My husband went with Apple crumble and I asked for sticky pudding toffees. There was a variety of cream color, ice cream or pastry cream. They both asked for cream, but they told us there was none. So, we both went for natilla. waitress made a face, and said check if there were any later I was told 'you come with a sauce anyway 'mmmmmm! She never showed up, so I figured the pastry cream was a guest. dishes arrived, my husband had pastry cream but had ice cream, he wouldn't have chosen because he didn't eat ice cream and had informed the waitress. My husband told me to be grateful I didn't have the pastry cream since it was disgusting, as a heated pool with confectioner pastry cream. We ate the flanks and they were fine. We would have had coffee, but the service was incredibly slow, so after 15 minutes waiting for another service that just left. My husband left a tip, but if it had not been for me the council would have been a note reading 'recoger his game!'
Bistro is in a retirement village, with a care home so many of the residents, many with visiting families were eating there. My mother lives locally and has been many times but this was my first visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. It was very busy the day we went and service was a little slow, but it was not a problemGood menu choice and reasonably priced. We went on a Saturday but noticed they offer a Sunday roast dinner for £5.95, which seemed very reasonable. Food was very nice and generous portion sizeAlso a lovely walled garden nearby for a gentle walk after your meal
The staff is pleasant and very helpful. The food was good and very well presented, and reasonable. The gardens are simply divine. . What a lovely setting to eat or have a coffee. This was good, because the interior smelled too much of a school dining room, and it couldn't have stayed
A little jewel hidden at the top of Lesmahagow. The staff is very friendly and the bistro menu offers great variety and the food tastes very well.Misma quality that many of the garden centers, but half price. The only thing is, the macaroni with cheese is not what it used to be. I used to come as a dish prepared with an oven plate separated from chips. Now it's on a plate with a portion of fries. You still know very well, but I'd like you to prepare and serve as you used to. Great variety and quality, and I certainly recommend it.
I met up with my family for a delightful lunch in a beautiful setting. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning again.
