What Sophie Knight doesn't like about Alexander Taylor:
During a recent trip to the countryside, I stayed in the village of Strathaven and stumbled upon this bakery. As a home baker myself, I decided to purchase a small loaf from what was claimed to be Scotland's oldest bakery. Unfortunately, the bread I bought was of poor quality - it was bland, tasteless, and overpriced. After trying to eat it as toast, I ultimately gave up after a few bites. While the charming atmosphere and friendly staff are commendable, the quality of the baked goods has been criticized as bland and overpriced. Patrons have reported frustratingly long waits for service in the café, prompting some to seek alternatives. In contrast, a nearby deli café has won hearts with its delicious dishes, including a standout Malaysian butternut soup, paired perfectly with freshly baked bread and exceptional coffee. Overall, Strathaven presents a blend of heritage and modern culinary experiences worthy of exploration.
