The takeaway food was of excellent quality and very tasty. We enjoyed soup as a starter, along with prawn crackers, chicken Szechuan, chicken curry rice, and chips. The dishes were slightly heavy on the vegetables, mainly carrots, but we would highly recommend it. We plan to book a table at the restaurant the next time we are in Ulverston. View all feedback.
One of the best Chinese dishes I had in a very long time. hot acid suppe was delicious. so were szechuan huh and king prawn curry with singapur fried rice. portions were very generous. Prawn crackers could have been crimped, but they can't blame the main meal. I personally find that Chinese dishes are in the regular on a salty side, but not those we have ordered today. would have been back.
Whilst on holiday, we popped in here to get a takeaway after a day of walking. Ordered chicken black bean and chicken chow mein with spring rolls. Everything was cooked quickly and efficiently and piping hot with complimentary prawn crackers. Good quality food. Would recommend. Cash only though, so beware!

Staff welcoming and helpful. Service good. Didn't have to wait long for our food which was tasty and nicely cooked. Interior would benefit from a little TLC. Day we were there were only accepting cash. Not sure if this is a permanent thing so if you go make sure you have some cash to hand.
I've been a resident of Ulverston for over 2 decades, and when The Lotus first opened I became a regular because it presented more restaurant style versions of the typical takeaway, very fresh and not too heavy. But in recent times I'm not sure what's going on, maybe because of lack of custom due to lock down they've decided to rely on certain elements being cooked from frozen. Sweet and sour pork is one of my favourite dishes, and some time last year I ordered this to extreme disappointment when the deep fried battered pork was extremely overcooked, hard as bullets with the insides so dry it was like saw dust. It certainly put me off returning to this establishment for quite a while. Then the other day I thought I'd give them another chance, as perhaps they just may have had a bad day last time, but the same thing happened again, rock hard bullets with saw dust inside! The rest of the dish was OK, the stir fried veg element being quite fresh and the sauce really tasty, but unfortunately when the main part of the dish is inedible it kind of ruins the whole thing.
