What User doesn't like about Smokin' 9150:
if they are hungry, it is certainly better than nothing. the prices are steep for what they get. but hey, it's the only option that they can calculate what they want. View all feedback.
I asked a staff member where we could pay for our food, but before he could respond, I directed him to my husband who was picking up our plates, indicating that we would pay together. After showing my husband the soup and milk, I asked him to make the payment while I held our daughter and the tray. As we were about to sit down, a lady approached me and reminded me that we hadn't paid yet. I reassured her that my husband would take care of it, but later discovered he wanted to get the drinks first before paying. As we proceeded to the register to settle our bill, the lady accused us multiple times of trying to get food for free with a smirk on her face. Despite trying to explain the situation, she continued to make false accusations. My husband and I, both professionals, found the experience extremely humiliating. We initially planned to take our food to go, but the poor treatment and accusations led us to leave the food behind after paying $79. The lady's behavior displayed racism towards people of color, and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The prices were exorbitant, the food was subpar, and the mistreatment we endured was unacceptable. I have warned my colleagues, family, and neighbors to avoid this establishment at all costs. I hope that one day someone will wipe that smirk off her face.
Although it is very beautiful, the food is not great and also expensive. I understand that you pay a bit more in a ski resort, but paying 12 for a simple hot dog is too much. The chicken tenders were not exceptional and just lukewarm. The price of over 25 is also too much for what you get.
First time skiing a vail resort in 2021 2022.... After getting a reservation (which is only necessary if you want to sit inside fyi), and then standing in an enormous line which combines people with reservations and grab and go, they check your vaccination card and then direct you to stand In yet another line now for food (it's really just one giant line). The food line moves cafeteria style through all of the food stations meaning everyone must go through every food station which makes LA traffic look like nascar. After waiting an hour you're finally there except... they're out of cheeseburgers? What?! So I order the chili which comes with corn bread except it doesn't because they're out of that too (more on the chili later). The flat bread (pizza) comes with salad but they're out of that too. Meanwhile the prices are stupidly high. I got a Dixie cup of chili for $15 without corn bread (no discount btw). Seriously each bean probably cost a dollar. Something is very wrong with the system. My in laws left the Soviet Union to come to the United States. I'm glad they didn't have to witness this. Don't blame the staff, they're well intentioned and incredibly apologetic. They know it's a shitshow and valiantly dawn their flak jackets and go into the fray. To cap it off, you're told you have 45 minutes to eat in a largely empty dining room to make room for other diners trapped in tamarack line purgatory. Come on Vail get your s together. We're like a day into the ski season here. The only silver lining is that the bar is open and has no line. Spanky is there with cocktails ready to help you recover from Tamarack hell. Go to the bar. Skip the food line.
If you're feeling hungry, this restaurant is better than having no options. The prices are high for the portion sizes, but since it's the only choice around, they can set their prices however they please.
You're trapped and they know it. Plate of chicken fingers, a burger, and 2 waters cost $60. Food was lukewarm and something that would cost $18 at half the elevation. I expect inflation at elevation but this was to the extreme. Staff was super friendly and courteous. I'd recommend them over and over but at these prices, throw a few granola bars in your pocket and suck it up until after your gondola ride down.
