Oak Leaf - South Holland

My partner and I dined at this restaurant on Saturday after a tiring day driving to and visiting Burghley for the horse trials. We were drawn in by the enticing menu and, feeling too exhausted to search for another place to eat, we decided to give it a chance. To our delight, we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food and the reasonable prices. We started with mango and brie parcels and game pate, then moved on to the duck and steak dishes. The restaurant also had a good selection of wines to complement our meal. We were very pleased that we chose to dine here instead of venturing elsewhere.

This hotel is truly exceptional. The food is excellent and the service is top-notch. They use locally sourced products and their steak from Bennets the Butchers is fantastic. The bar is also very well-stocked. I would have given 5 stars, but the portions were once again too large! I mentioned this during our first visit, but the same thing happened again. All we wanted was a nice Fillet Steak with a small salad and a small portion of chips, but we ended up with a huge mountain of salad and an excessive amount of chips. It was a shame to see such good food go to waste. I want to emphasize that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food - the steak was truly amazing.

As someone unfamiliar with the area, I was on the lookout for a "nice" restaurant to celebrate my eldest sister's 70th birthday. She lives near Spalding. We made an excellent choice. The food was delightful and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were very friendly, and the musical duo unexpectedly had beautiful voices, adding to the relaxing ambiance of our meal. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience.
