Hawkshead - South Haven

If you are searching for upscale dining in South Haven, you have limited options but HawksHead is definitely the top choice. Situated on the HawksHead Links golf course with views of the Black River, this charming inn offers a beautiful setting. The Lobster Bisque is outstanding, and the menu also features excellent steaks and creative dishes such as a quinoa bowl. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive. Overall, HawksHead provides a pleasant escape from the busy downtown scene with exceptional cuisine.

Our meal at your restaurant last night was extremely disappointing. We had planned a special dinner for our nephew and niece, so we selected Hawkshead. Unfortunately, we were told that 3 out of the 4 main dishes were not available. After this experience, we will not be considering Hawkshead for future special occasions. My wife and I went to this restaurant with friends and we were both very unimpressed with our experience. I ordered a lobster bisque that had a grainy and rough texture, indicating that it was likely frozen and reheated. The crab cakes I had were okay, but a bit dry, and the sauce served with them had an overwhelming curry flavor that completely masked the taste of the crab. My wife's meal was also disappointing. She ordered a wedge salad that was drenched in dressing, and then a chicken dish that tasted like it was cooked in a beef demi-glace. The potatoes served with her dish were burnt and soggy. However, the most disappointing aspect of our dinner was the poor service. It took a long time to get a server's attention, and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things like clearing plates and menus. Ordering drinks was a challenge, with part of our order coming out wrong multiple times. After finishing our meal, we waited over 25 minutes to pay because our server disappeared.

So far, the food has been amazing. The service can be inconsistent, but the ambiance is unbeatable.

The staff always gives off an attitude like they don't care if you're there or not. The food is average, the service is poor, but the atmosphere is decent.
