What RetiredWazza doesn't like about The Windjammer Inn:
There were no issues with the welcoming atmosphere or service at this restaurant. We enjoyed the delicious seafood chowder. It is a cozy pub with a small menu that is effective. However, we may not return as we found better options in the town. The restaurant is partially wheelchair accessible. View all feedback.
This is clearly where the locals go rather than the harbour front pubs. The day we went it was quiet, but the open fire and welcoming bar lady made the atmosphere very enjoyable. We had some lovely home cooked food, that really was home cooked, and you could tell the difference. It was wonderful.
We just came for a drink and the front seats near the window had cushions on, I lifted one up and the seat was damaged. I moved further away but the place is really nice and landlady really good to talk to.
Having been going to this pub for over 12 years with various family members, this year went again in half term. Again we had excellent service and home cooked food, I have seen other reviews who comment on the seats and it’s more for locals , but it will always be a favourite.
Nice looking bar with plenty of character, selection of local ales and friendly service from bar maid. Food was a bit lacking, nice chips but burger buns were chewy (probably defrosted in microwave). Plumbing in the toilets seemed a bit absent, couldn’t get much water out of the taps at all.
The fact that there was only one person in the pub on a busy evening should have been a give away. However we decided to have a meal and I ordered the vegetarian option which was described as a five bean casserole which sounded really nice. The reality was a bowl of mushy bean stew that had been microwaved to oblivion absolutely disgusting and at a cost of £9,50 a complete rip off. My 11 year old daughter had the spagetti bolognese which again was microwaved to the extent that it was dry and crisp with congealed lumps of meat. My partner had the only meal that was feshly cooked there again chips are pretty difficult to **** up His burger however was burnt black in places. Absolutely appalling value for money and without a doubt the worst meal I have ever paid for.
