Blackawton is a little out of the way but worth the trip. They had an interest variety of dishes on the menu and seemed very popular, we had booked in advance. I had a Lamb leg steak, which was thick as a rump steak and perfectly cooked, tender and succulent. Good beer, the Cornish Guinness style Mena Dhu was really good. What Navigator68140076786 doesn't like about The George Inn Blackawton:
Stayed at the George Inn on Saturday 10 Nov 18Shabby hotel with the bar open to the locals until 2.30 for after hours drinking, couldn’t sleep through the noise as the rooms are above the bar. Totally out of order not to pre warn us of the party when we booked.Room sub standard shower not working, blocked drains and breakfast service poor. Horrible and would not recommend and wouldn’t stay again View all feedback.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I was greeted warmly. The food was excellent and the dining room atmosphere was very pleasant. The menu had a great selection of options. I will definitely be returning in the future.
There were 6 of us. Lovely menu choice. Food was excellent, beautifully cooked and well presented. Will look forward to the next time
I had a meal at the George just before Christmas with my family. The food was excellent and good value. I am still dreaming about the Rhubarb Trifle
We stopped for lunch on a rainy day at 12.15pm. It took almost an hour for us to get our food 6 orders of sandwiches plus 2 kids meals. Food was fairly good. The ambience could be better and brighter it has a bit of a spit and sawdust feel to the place.
Kate and I had alovely drive to Blackawton, just hoping that no one would be coming from the opposite direction as the narrow lanes had few passing spots. WE were lucky and you should try your luck too as the George is well worth it. Nothing special about the pub itself but the warmth of the welcome, the food and the beer are all very special. I had delicious home made smoked mackerel pate. Lots of butter and capers. Kate had a very good bun with a filling of halloumi and mushrooms. Do make the effort. you will be well rewarded
