Happened upon this place on a circular walk from Dartmouth. Coffee cake was superb, as was the setting. Food menu looked promising too, although we weren’t staying long enough for that. Well worth a diversion. View all feedback.
What Carl S doesn't like about Anchorstone Cafe:
I have been a patron of this cafe for many years, but unfortunately, I will not be returning until the very unfriendly lady in charge is no longer there. She seems to think she owns Dartmouth and has been known to ask customers to leave simply because their friend did not purchase anything from the cafe. I witnessed one lady being asked to leave just for having a quick chat with her friend by the tables. This level o... View all feedback.
This is perfect and despite visiting many times never fails to impress. Beautiful views across the river, laidback atmosphere and fantastic seafood. Delicious Rose too pairs perfectly with delicious dishes. Highly recommend. The scallop Caesar salad as pictured is incredible so good had it 2 days running
Had my first lunch here in nearly 4 years and it was every bit as good as I remember, shell on prawns to start, big fat scallops (with the roe on! Yum! in a beautiful Caesar salad, what must have been an entire squid made into beautifully fresh tempura battered calamari and a cracking lemon posset and affagato to finish. Excellent friendly staff and a stunning view. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
After traveling over 250 miles to reach Devon, walking over 2 miles to reach the Greenway Ferry and paying £4 to cross the water to Dittersham, I must express my disappointment with the customer service at the Cafe. The website indicated that it was fully booked until the 2nd of September (we visited on the 16th of September) and we were prepared to book for the following week, only to find out that it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and fully booked until the 27th of September, allegedly! The way in which we were told this was not very customer-friendly. It seems that this Cafe, which is just a cafe, is still using COVID as an excuse to the extreme and is not making an effort to recover lost revenue from loyal tourists. It makes me wonder how establishments like this stay in business when they treat people poorly. They need to adapt and open up to the public properly. It's too late for me as we will not be returning.

Great staff really friendly. Food was delicious. Had the scallops and monkfish. Great location with views over the river. Glad we booked an inside table as weather was awful.
