Wow! Visited last night for food and drinks; what a great decision to visit here. The only thing better than our delicious meals and good selection of drinks was the service we received from all the staff. They were so friendly, attentive and efficient. I can't remember the last occasion I received such brilliant and unforgettable service. Will definitely visit again so shy away! View all feedback.

Haven't visited for a number of years so decided to go back and try it for lunch. The food was nice and the staff was very pleasant. That was the positive ending. The interior was ok but looks a bit tired. We sat outside and...the patio and garden area really drained it. Shabby and uninspiring. The bin was overflowing with rubbish, there was discarded medicine on the patio, and stuff strewn across the grass. Too bad. View all feedback.
Any village is lucky to retain a pub these days, and times for them have been tough but, even so, this one could be much nicer. The bar area is rather dull, worn and soulless. The dry busy staff are polite but completely impersonal. Claims...about local provenance of the food are, in the end, just fashionable words and not really convincing when meals are served up with what appear to be frozen chips and bought in catering class pies etc. Whatever its source our main course wasn’t convincing enough for us to bother ordering a dessert and we always aim to have one. In reality what exactly is the benefit of a carrot coming from a local shop who probably bought it from a wholesaler anyway? In my view a menu focussed on quality food rather than an unnecessarily large choice together with some work to make the place look and feel more attractive and a bit of staff engagement would benefit everyone. Even if this was my local I don’t think I’d be inclined to go in it very much as things stand.

Came for an evening meal ordered our meals. Bit into a chip and chocked on a straight long dark brown piece of hair! I mentioned it quietly to the bar staff as I hate making a fuss. He took the food away and came back...to apologize but also to tell me “it’s not one of our hairs from the kitchen!” Well Iv short very blonde curly hair and my husband definitely doesn’t have long brown hair either! I asked for my money back as I couldn’t face eating. They gave me the money back just for my meal only, personally I think it should all been refunded. So I sat there while my husband ate his. Nice treat out ruined by poor hygiene. I certainly don’t think it was an appropriate decision to tell me it wasn’t from the kitchen. It felt like I was to blame!

My wife and I were recommended to this pub and it did not disappoint. The menu choice for the £7.50 deal was excellent and my wife had smoked mackerel and I had quiche and chips. The food was of very high quality and the service...was very speedy although it was a fairly quiet time just after the lunchtime rush. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We sat out in the garden which was very pleasant on a hot day. All in all a very good lunch.
