Clean, friendly, kinda rustic with a nice outside sitting area, spotless bathroom, clean white sheets on a comfy bed. Exactly what’s needed after a day riding in the mountains. Good restaurant next door, liquor, grocery, and convenience store nearby. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 View all feedback.
What bruce cote doesn't like about Spruce Lodge:
Hate to leave a bad review, but this place was the worst highway motel we've ever stayed in three cross country trips. Multiple notes in our room package, in the room, and the lodge door railing against their business situation and blaming everyone from the government to previous guests for it. The complementary breakfast was a joke and we used our own bread to make toast. The office has limited hours and the staff d... View all feedback.
Owner was very accommodating. If you have a need just ask. We had some very big asks that were satisfied. The breakfast Is no longer made to order, but a very filling continental breakfast. The kids loved the uniqueness of the resort. Great value for what you get. Bring you own toiletries. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5
The place was really dirty. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 1
We had booked the cabin and when we arrived it was occupied. No apology from the young women at the desk just an offer for a room. The room was disgusting. There was mold all over bathroom from absent vent fan. Just not acceptable Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 4
The room was not at all like the pictures and reviews made it appear. It was definitely rustic; while I love unique, older motels with character, the lodge was just dated and had no charm. The room was filthy the carpet and linoleum floors didn’t look like they’d been vacuumed or mopped in weeks. The rug was covered in stains. Everything was dusty, and sections of the linoleum floor were coming up. There was a crack in the middle of the door, the white shower curtain was stained orange, and there was mold/mildew in several places on the bathroom ceiling and walls. I found a couple stains on the linens, and there were lines down the TV display screen. The management left a “before you complain…” note in the room, which detailed their Covid precautions. However, the room did NOT reflect the cleaning procedures mentioned on the page. Overall, the room was gross, and I wouldn’t stay there again. We contacted management, who seemed confused by our concerns about the room. However, they offered to send a housekeeper to the room once they got to the property. (The check in information stated that there was housekeeping on site 24/7; however, it took three hours for someone to arrive to clean our room. Once they cleaned, the room was better still not great, but it was an improvement.
The place is clean and welcoming, with a charming rustic vibe and a lovely outdoor seating area. The bathroom was spotless, and the cozy bed had fresh white sheets—just what you need after a day of mountain riding. There's also a great restaurant next door, as well as a liquor store and grocery store nearby. Overall, I would rate the rooms a 5, the service a 5, and the location a 5.
