What User doesn't like about The Yew Tree:
terrible musty smell as soon as I got in. with a look at some Punjabi cuisine, far from it, my lamb was cooked and mixed in a tomato sauce, the only think beautiful about the place was my gin and tonic! View all feedback.
I went to this restaurant with a group of friends. We all loved the food and there were plenty of options for the vegetarian in our group. We definitely plan on returning in the future.
This was our first time dining at this restaurant, and we were intrigued by the number of cars in the parking lot and parties happening in the garden. We chose to visit on a Thursday evening in hopes of avoiding a crowded dining experience. The menu was small, but we were okay with that as long as the food was good. Unfortunately, when we asked the waiter for spicy poppadoms, he seemed more focused on new arrivals and ended up bringing us plain ones instead. This was not a great start to our meal. There was also no indication of how spicy each dish was on the menu. Despite my husband requesting his goat curry to be madras hot, my dish ended up being even spicier than his. I ordered the Dhaniya Murg, which was too hot for my liking, so I had to switch to the Kadai Murg, which was just average. My daughter's Lime Chilli Tikka looked appealing on the plate, but the chicken was coated in a bright green paste that seemed uncooked inside. We sent it back, and it was taken off our bill. Overall, our experience at the Indian Courtyard at the Yew Tree was underwhelming, and we do not plan on returning. There are plenty of other local Indian restaurants that offer much tastier food. What a letdown.
I was disappointed as soon as I walked into the restaurant due to a terrible musty smell. I was hoping for some delicious Punjabi cuisine, but unfortunately my lamb dish was overcooked and drowned in a bland tomato sauce. The only redeeming factor of the experience was my enjoyable gin and tonic.
