Contribute FeedbackIn the ever-evolving landscape of dining, one restaurant stands out for its inconsistencies. Guests have reported subpar service and a disheartening lack of authentic flavors, with dishes often relying on bland bases and lacking spice. While some diners lament inflated prices for uninspired servings, others praise the unique atmosphere and friendly staff, hailing it as a go-to spot for comforting Indian cuisine. Loyalty remains amongst a few who appreciate the prompt resolution of any issues. Ultimately, potential patrons may want to explore nearby options before committing, as opinions on the restaurant's quality diverge widely.
All four dishes seemed to be smothered in the same overly sweet red sauce, heavily seasoned with a handful of spices. As someone who has spent a lot of time in India, West Bengal, Sri Lanka, etc., I found this meal to be the worst example of Anglicized cuisine pretending to be top-notch Indian food. It felt like the dishes were all just variations of the same sauce - red, brown, and beige with added flavors depending on the dish. The fish was overcooked to the point of being mushy. I would recommend driving 30 minutes to Southall for a more authentic dining experience. The service was mediocre and the prices were high for the quality of food. It is baffling to me how Heston Blumenthal, Ben Kingsley, and others could have given such glowing reviews to this place. Perhaps it was better 25 years ago, but not anymore.
So was a regular for a good 10 years, though for a 2 year break due to covid, I booked for the Sunday buffet. all new employees (not sure whether the main restaurant is new owned) who are obviously not trained in the service....Book the table by phone, the immediate answer was that they were closed by 2 clock not very inviting. the restaurant was empty walk from a table of 3 and a large employee family meeting. when entering the staff was around the floor and did not sit down or greet us. the food was ok, but the self-service buffet offer has remained unchanged for years, so I am bored. but to get big delays with us a drink, I always had to ask for a glass of water (they wouldn't leave the cripple), and the server were really just at the employees gathering it felt uncomfortable that the on-duty staff stand to chase the big table next to us with their off-service staff and ignore us. I had to literally wave my poor to win their attention. I'm not back.
Eating is lovely, right on my street. great service, friendly and smiling. such great quality.
I wanted to visit some special place, but was disappointed. the service was not particularly good, eating is nothing special than other Indian restaurants frequently visited and overpriced. to complete it, two people in our party dogy tümmies had the following. will not be visited again, there are many other places to try.
If you are considering this restaurant please read the last few months of reviews. I wish we had before we went. This place is truly a let down this is not authentic Indian food it's a poor imitation which was around 20 plus years ago...that is thankfully not prevalent any more. Every dish is bland and basically the same base sauce with a variation of meat or veg added at the last minute. The biryani is boiled rice with chicken added to it the paneer mirch are in essence Jalapeno poppers which are drenched in sauce but you pay 7 pound for three tiny pieces. We raised this at the time as all the food was left untouched and the response what do you want me to do I just work here The service to other tables with English clientele was also markedly different to the service we experienced. If you are considering this restaurant I would seriously look elsewhere you will pay an obscene amount for some of the most tasteless Asian food you can imagine and in a area where you have some excellent Indian restaurants within a short drive and I guarantee you won't be paying £16 for boiled rice and chicken called a biryani.
