While many patrons commend the attentive service and freshly made sandwiches, opinions on the food quality vary. Some guests found the savory selections to be bland and uninspired, contrasting with the delightful pastries and scones. Despite a notable increase in price due to service charges, many visitors believe the overall experience is worthwhile. With a warm ambiance and accommodating staff, Cliveden remains a charming destination for those seeking a refined tea experience, especially during special occasions.
Our experience with afternoon tea was quite disappointing. The food quality was mediocre, especially compared to other establishments like the Ivy. Despite informing the staff about a vegetarian in our party during booking and confirming this at the beginning, they still brought out non-vegetarian options twice. The staff were not very friendly or apologetic about the mistake. It seems that for vegetarians, vegans, or those with allergies, it may not be safe to trust the staff to accommodate your needs.
I recently visited this restaurant for afternoon tea with a guest from overseas who thoroughly enjoyed it. The location exudes nostalgic glamour and is steeped in history, with a reputation for hosting numerous notorious events over the years. The positives include the ease of booking online, convenient parking right outside the establishment, attentive and friendly service, and delicious sandwiches, savory items, and pastries. The only downside is that the cost per person quoted at £55 actually ended up being £62 after adding the service charge (although we received a discount with our NT card). Despite this minor issue, I would still gladly return for another visit.
I recently went to Cliveden House on December 27th for Afternoon Tea with family from Switzerland. The experience was meant to be special in a lovely setting, but it was spoiled by two young children running around, shouting, and having tantrums. I was disappointed that the staff serving Afternoon Tea did not address this behavior with the children's parents. I mentioned this to the hotel staff when leaving, but their response was unsatisfactory, with only a weak apology. I have been to the hotel many times before, but I will now think twice about booking again. Overall, I was very disappointed.
We went for afternoon tea which was lovely, it's a beautiful place to see with lots of history. We were asked if we would like champagne but didn't realise this was not included in the set price we had paid also a service charge is expected
We had a lovely high tea at Clivedon House..The sandwiches, savoury snacks , cakes and scones were delicious and the choice of teas was delightful. Th Em staff were friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed ourself and the views from the windows were beautiful.
