Blue Bird Bakery and Cakes

Ordered cakes was told there was no issue and to pick them up at 8am arrived at 8:45 and was told that doors have only just opened and she was not ready to serve customers! Paid and exorbitant amount of money for average cake, then to be yelled at in store and told that the cake boards and rods that were agreed and paid for in full in the order were refused to be given to me. Then a lady from behind came out and started to yell at me explaining how much of a pain this order was from their lack of communication in the kitchen. I was told that they could not help me and was told to leave and go some where else to purchase cake boards and rods! Will not be returning, such incredibly rude staff. Blue Bird bakery use to be so amazing, such a disappointment.

Wide range of delicious pies, pasties, cakes, slices etc. I mainly buy takeaways, but it is also a nice coffee shop.

I last reviewed this business in February 2015, and have been a loyal customer now for over 30 years. I have weathered many management changes, the consolidation to the Brighton address when the glenelg south shop was shut down, and throughout all the quality and friendly staff have remained.Unfortunately, with a change of management, who entered with such enthusiasm, several months down the track the charm and warmth have gone. The older lady who served me today is one of the original,pleasant and obliging staff members. Whoever was with her when I was querying mince pies looked miserable, and was very abrupt. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but really I just wanted iced Mince pies-I buy $100 worth each Christmas-but now she is ' too busy' to do it? Seriously? I was in there at 10.30 this morning and half the shelves were bare, and there was very little variety. Oh and yes, beware the slab cakes. The banana slab today was overlooked and dry, and burned on the bottom. I had to trim it to eat it. Oh, and the cocktail sausage rolls are simply revolting, and repeat for days.I have loved you, grown with you from a child to middle aged woman, and remained faithful, but now am forced to walk away.So disappointing.

Good HOT food tasty and fresh, no need for sauce to add FLAVOUR PLENTY HERE.!!! Coffee to go or a cold coke all good

Horrible service, when my MIL picked up the cake it was not what we ordered AT ALL, i was told i should have driven the cake back straight away (40 mins away) but i had 96 people to feed. reffused a part refund, We spend well over $200 and was offer a lousy $50 in store credit, i 'apparently' was waisting her time and was told to call a lawyer if i wanted legal advice. Who runs a business like this??? PATHETIC!!!!
