Girasol - South Bend

Absolutely incredible bean and cheese pupusas! The first time I tried them, I was hooked and highly recommend you give them a shot! We placed our order and enjoyed every bite. Also, be sure to try the horchata (note that it contains dairy), which I highly recommend as well! Everything is made fresh after you order, so plan on enjoying a relaxed atmosphere while you wait for your amazing meal. Please note that they only accept cash and are closed on Mondays. This is a wonderful little spot! The pupusas are truly authentic, and the Salvadorian cauliflower served on the side is fantastic. They only accept cash, but it’s worth the trip to the ATM. The owner and the chef are incredibly polite and helpful, which really enhances the overall dining experience. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area. Everything is made fresh, so keep that in mind when budgeting—expect to spend around $10-15 for a meal, especially if they’re not too busy.

I discovered a local family-owned restaurant called Papusas while visiting a university. The outdoor seating area is lovely, and the food is fantastic. The woman who manages the place was incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Very good Pupusa! We like the bean and cheese. Comes with warm tomato sauce and a seasoned coleslaw type cabbage to put on them at the table. Made after you order, so don't stop in a rush. But definitely worth the wait!

Girasol Restaurant is a great place to pick up some awesome pupusas. They have other things as well and I will be sure to come over more often and continue to try their other dishes. The pupusas are made fresh to order and the cabbage salad that goes with it is great.
