Had lunch here today. It was superb, they went to the trouble of printing off an English menu for us (not needed but they did it). This was traditional northern Italy food, with a restaurant full of locals and tourists alike. 2 course meal, wine, water and coffee €36, really I would have paid double.
I have been here twice. Once with a local and the other by myself. The food is good but the wife (owner) is a battle-axe and appears to care less about foreigners (I 'm from California). My experience is that she has close to zero tolerance for touristas. Unless you have reservations, in my opinion, she will not give you the time of day. If you feel like doing a business a favor by giving them your time, money and appetite then by all means stop here. Otherwise, there are so many good restaurants in the immediate lake region. For example, continue down the road (Via Del Tivano) and make a stop at Eugenio 's and you will not be disappointed with unbelievable steaks, great service, and people who truly appreciate your business. In several years of reviews on this site this is my first negative comment about a restaurant in the area
A single dining room for a great dinner. Pre-fab menu suggested. Reservation mandatory since it is far and very well reputed by locals. Used to a skilist near-by, it is always cool, cold at times. Deserves the road, won't disappont you.
Opening times are not clear! The staff could not communicate clearly, we were turned away and told to come back at 12 noon. We came back around the time stated and staff was all over the place, disorganised. Finally, we were told lunch is served upstairs but there are no places left. It would be useful to display a sign ‘fully booked’ or communicate clearly as it would save everyones time. One of the staff members offered a table when we were in the parking lot and in the car already. We felt too disappointed and unwelcomed. Therefore, we declined.
