Piazza Garibaldi is supposed to be one of the highlights of Sondrio, but with the fake lawn in the middle with some big red plastic seating and not overly impre... read more Piazza Garibaldi is supposed to be one of the highlights of Sondrio, but with the fake lawn in the middle with some big red plastic seating and not overly impressive buildings around it (Grand Hotel della Posta, Banca d 'Italia, Teatro Sociale), this is a rather disappointing sight as is the whole town in comparison to places like Tirano, Chiavenna or Morbegno in the same province. Our stay at the Caffé della Posta on Piazza Garibaldi didn 't make things better. We had been sitting outside for quite some time, watching the waitress taking orders from people at three different tables arriving quite a bit later than us. Maybe they give priority to local people they know. My wife 's cappuccino consisted mainly of milk with just a weak coffee taste, while my espresso was average and cold. The roastery they are using is 'Ideal ' from a nearby village.
