It is always a great find to come across a Playa Bowls when out and about. This particular location in Somerville was lovely, with ample seating and a welcoming, helpful staff. What User doesn't like about Playa Bowls:
When someone ordered a FROZEN Sorbet based bowl... What you do. It sits on the counter (MELTING), while you wait for their arrival. I came 7 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick-up time I just thought I'd wait... and I just can't imagine if I had been on time after I picked it up and traveled back to my goal just because it was totally MELTED and INEDIBLE. Why do the employees here shut off the phone so often?! First, if PB made their door dash profile more accessible, people wouldn’t need to call, but they give ZERO way to remove items/allergens from a bowl, or do double bases, etc., they only allow you to ADD, so they can get more money. As a result, the only option is to call after ordering, and more often than not it goes straight to voicemail. My stupidity for ordering before I tried the phone, but what the heck.Dietary restrictions: Don’t have any of you’re ordering through Door Dash! They set up their profile so you have zero option to change your order for your dietary restrictions. Even the “special instructions” they set so you can just click to cancel the order if their out of an item.
I would like to say the food is great. The staff are nice and friendly. However, the only real problem we had was it took forever. Like literally forever to get our order. Only 2 people working and there was quite a few people ahead of us. They were also working very hard and hustling to get orders done. Just not enough people for the crowd that could gather there. I'm sure they were overwhelmed but... I understand that the times we live in create the situation of being shorthanded. My only gripe is, sometimes, people don't have time to wait 20 to 30 min for an order. My rating is based on the time it took to get the order, not the store, not the service.

I have been ordering here often and I dislike how now my orders are messed up frequently or not what was asked. I pay extra to get some Nutella to not even have almost anything of it. I have ordered a family member a bowl also to have the order messed up more than 3 times. I just hope it does not continue
Evan went out of his way and did above and beyond for my bowls. he was fast and efficient and his service was immaculate. he treated me with kindness when i walked in and greeted me with the biggest smile. i would 100% come in again.
