Reviews summary

Celeste offers a charming dining experience with its vibrant atmosphere and cozy outdoor seating. Diners rave about the standout ceviche and the flavorful lomo saltado; however, some felt that certain main dishes fell short of expectations, primarily due to odd presentations. While the ambiance is delightful, and service can be prompt, there have been occasional lapses in attentiveness. Reservations are recommended, as this hidden gem tends to fill up quickly. Overall, it presents a solid option for authentic Peruvian cuisine in Boston, leaving many eager to return and explore more of the creative menu offerings.

The food and service at Celeste are exceptional! I will definitely be returning! They have a wide variety of Pisco sours. I’m so pleased to have discovered this hidden gem of Peruvian cuisine in Boston. The Blue Cod Ceviche and Passion Fruit & Mango Ceviche were outstanding. We also sampled the steamed fish and stir-fried beef, both of which tasted like they were made at home.

I had an amazing dinner at Celeste, with food that was absolutely delightful. Each dish we sampled was creatively and expertly made, and every bite was delicious. The margaritas were also quite enjoyable. The service was attentive and very accommodating. While the restaurant is cozy, it has a lovely atmosphere. I have a nut allergy, and the staff was generally attentive to it, but it's wise to double-check, as some sauces and menu items do contain nuts.

The food was outstanding. I can't wait to return and sample everything else on the menu—if I can secure a reservation! When it comes to the lomo saltado, do yourself a favor and get your own; you won’t want to share a single bite of that deliciousness. It has incredible depth of flavor and a perfect balance. The pupusa was delightful, with a rich corn flavor, crispy browned edges, fresh salty cheese, and crunchy slaw. The shrimp scampi was equally scrumptious. The staff was genuinely committed to ensuring we had a wonderful experience and even treated us to a complimentary dessert tasting. This place is truly a hidden gem in Union Square!

After reading the fantastic reviews of Celeste, we decided to try it for dinner without a reservation and were fortunate to get a table without any issues. We chose to sit outside, and they only requested that we vacate the table by 8:30 PM, as there would be a influx of diners at that time. Regardless, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner that lasted an hour and a half. Check out our photos! The service was quick and bilingual. One thing to note is that the sign outside is just a small piece of fabric fluttering in the wind, which makes it a bit hard to spot. So if it's your first visit, be sure not to miss the restaurant!

**Pros:** There is a wide variety of innovative fusion flavors, creating a fun atmosphere, and the service is friendly. **Cons:** However, the ingredients are somewhat ordinary, and the picnic-style patio tables and dishware don’t quite match the creative dishes. **Overall:** I should caution you that many of the dishes have a strong spicy kick, which is not what one would typically expect from Peruvian cuisine. I enjoyed what I tried and look forward to sampling more on my next visit.

Celeste is my favorite Peruvian restaurant in the greater Boston area, and possibly my favorite seafood restaurant in Boston as well.Deep but concise menu. A pristine mixed ceviche anchors the offering, and its easy to pair it with one of the colorful causas as a starting pair. Afterwards, the seafood risotto is simply top tier, and you definitely should get it with the fried fish option. It’s a breezy and lively spot as well, and service is prompt and attentive. The outdoor seating during decent weather makes for a tranquil but fun evening.Overall, Boston is lucky to have Celeste.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. As someone with dietary restrictions, I was pleased to find excellent gluten-free options. The service was top-notch, making me feel welcomed and well taken care of throughout my meal. For dinner, I tried the ceviche and the mixed seafood, both of which were outstanding. The flavors were vibrant and fresh, truly a delight for the palate. The atmosphere of the restaurant was equally impressive, creating a perfect setting for an enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Expect to spend around $50 to $100 per person, which is well worth it considering the quality of food and service. Overall, a perfect evening out!

The food here is very good, but the service and professionalism needs a little improving. We had a 7pm reservation and weren’t seated until 7:45pm, however the waiter did comp our appetizer which was appreciated. We ordered the mixed seafood ceviche, scallops, and seafood risotto. Our favorite was the scallops and the pisco sour cocktails (10/10! . Unfortunately, we found that overall this restaurant isn’t worth the trek from Boston.

Great dinner spot in Union Square, Somerville. I love Peruvian cuisine, and the menu has a good array of meat and seafood dishes (one vegetarian dish). Though it was pricey, several dishes are worth having again. The ceviches, causas, lamb stew, and shrimp& scampi were highlights. The yucca was a bit soft, but balanced by the sides. The atmosphere has a mix of outdoor seating andindoor diner aura. Overall, loved my time here and hope to come again soon !

I had a wonderful dinner here with delicious food. Everything we ate was prepared carefully and thoughtfully and was absolutely delicious. The margs were fine. The service was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is tiny but charming. I have a nutallergy and the staff were pretty good about it, but definitely double check things as there are nuts in some of the sauces andon a lot of menu items.

Ceviche was amazing! The rest of the food was great, too! The Staff were pretty friendly and I found a really nice message in the bathroom, instead of mirror, they had a message saying: you look great, don’t worry!???? I didn’t have my cellphone withme to take a picture, I’ll do that next time! The tables in the outdoor seating area were super close to each other, but thisturned out to be a wonderful experience and I found a new friend, so thank you Celeste for that! I give it 4 star because of thedrink! I did not like the drink and it didn’t pair well with the seafood. I later learned they have some spicy drink options(not on the menu)! I definitely will be back and will try one of those next time!

Our waiter was extremely personable and attentive despite being very busy on a Saturday night. We informed staff that it was our friend:s birthday halfway through the meal and they took the time to sing and also brought us a round of free shots. The foodwas also very solid. I got the tacu tacu with seafood and it was delicious along with the yaquita appetizer. The tuna tartarecausa wasn't my favorite because some of the tuna felt a little sinewy but but everything else was delicious. Make sure you havea reservation because the inside is very small and it gets very busy.

Excellent quality of food and service! Definitely coming back! Large selection of Pisco sour. Glad to discover this gem of Peruvian food in Boston. Blue Cod Ceviche and Passion Fruit&Mango Cevice were really good. We also tried steamed fish and stirfried beef, both felt like homemade.

The food was rather average and overpriced. The ceviche was likely the highlight of the menu, but the main dishes were disappointing and mostly just stews. On the positive side, the drinks were good.

The menu offered a variety of enticing dishes, and we ultimately chose three, which turned out to be just the right amount for two people. The ceviche was expertly prepared and delicious—no complaints there. While seafood seems to be their specialty, the meat dish we ordered was also flavorful. Additionally, the mussels and calamari were tasty; everything was quite enjoyable! Overall, the prices felt a bit high compared to the quality and portion sizes, but I appreciated the overall experience and would definitely consider returning to try more seafood options. I would happily order the ceviche again, and the mocktail we had was delightful as well. It’s a lovely spot with appealing aesthetics. If there were more booth seating, I think the experience would have been even better. Thanks to Celeste for a pleasant dinner!

This location is convenient and cute, but that's roughly where the pros end. I would strongly recommend getting reservations as it's a popular spot that is absolutely tiny. We had reservations and were seated quickly, but it was a struggle to both get an order in, and then be served. At one point we got up to check if they were indeed still working on our order. We also got up when we needed utensils or more water--they simply would not notice our attempts to flag down a waiter. I don't mind lack of service generally, but it really does not fit this ambiance or price point, or indeed the layout of the restaurant. I ordered the camaron al ajillo and it was served in very odd dishes. A baking tray for shrimp? An earthen pot for steamed white rice? It took up up a cumbersome amount of space and made the gravy hard to scoop up. The food was good, but neither measured up to the price point nor all my previous excellent experiences with Peruvian food. The quest for good local Peruvian continues.

Had a casual weekday dinner here while I came in with high expectations, I still think the food left something to be desired. The lomo saltado was really good, but not different from other Peruvian joints. The scallop and lamb that we ordered were not outstanding. Ceviche and drinks were pleasantly tasty and we were very happy with the service throughout the night. Will revisit if the menu goes through a change Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Although not the classical recipes for Tacu Tacu or Locro, their interpretation of both dishes were superb. The Causa Limeña was indeed very much like the original Causa limeña and their Peruvian drinks and deserts (Suspiro Limeño and Lúcuma Mousse) were absolutely fabulous. Gonzalo, our server was awesome! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Vegetarian offerings: Not sure
