I?ve been here a few times over the past few years. My most recent visit was a take out order for some beef rendang it was definitely the best rendang I?ve had stateside. I also found it even tastier the next day. I lived in SE Asia for a year (Singapore) and find the flavors here pretty authentic. I also enjoy the opportunity to support the awesome Indonesian community in Somersworth when I can. View all feedback.
What Pam Martorano doesn't like about Bali Sate House:
Ordered 4 dinner items for takeout. Order was 30 minutes late. Restaurant said they were having computer problems but other take out customers did not have to wait. Found 4 large hairs in our food order, very disappointing. I will not go here again!! View all feedback.
Delicious take out in large portions! Was able to eat lunch the next day with the leftovers which is always helpful! Definitely looking to try the whole menu!
Another good Indonesian restaurant nearby. Their sate was the best. Also, inside the store has a small indonesian grocery store that sell variety of groceries like ceres, wisjman butter, etc. Very recommended to visit this store.
A wonderful late leisurely lunch. The food was wonderful. Each dish was cooked separately and brought out to us as it was ready. Sate was moist and flavorful. Two choices, sweet or spicy. We got one of each...spicy wasn't very spicy, maybe because one of our party of three said they didn't like spice. We ordered 3 separate dishes, each one was fabulous. Soup was delicious, the homemade pickles served with the noodles was amazing. The spicy potatoes served with the most tender steak was amazing. Check this place out, it was fabulous!
This place is amazing. They serve authentic Indonesian dishes in New England. A must visit restaurant if you are craving for south east asian dishes that are beyond Thai and Vietnamese. The crown jewel is the beef rendang. It's beef slow simmered in spices, coconut milk, and shredded coconut. Taste like real Sumatra style rendang. The ayam rica-rica is also good. It's Menado style stir fried chicken with spices and chillies. The sate is also really good. Its chicken skewers grilled to perfection and served with peanut sauce. They also serve pork dishes as well. You have to go to this place.
Indonesian food mostly I believe. Some Japanese dishes and some food is based on Dutch recipes. All is excellent. Some spicy, but not overpowering and plenty is sweet and savory. They have a small convenience market attached that offers a glimpse into many of their homelands treats and snacks like candy, chips, and cakes. They have some fresh produce and refrigerated ingredients for some of their standard dishes as well as sauce starters, rice, and various noodles. Send your taste buds on an exploration!!
