The Windjammer Cafe Grille

I am a native, so I still think about windjammer as a “new” place. I am super busy in summer with my own business and often has to eat. I've eaten 4 or 5 times in the summer. always order something different and always happy. I learn to love it and recommend it to my customers looking for a restaurant in somers point that has no “bar” atmosphere. I describe it as a “upscale diner” and this is a high compliment when I love jersey diners. food is very good at a good price. good service.

This restaurant is truly amazing, with exceptional staff. My parents and son used to frequent this place often. They were incredibly accommodating when seating us, especially when my mother was in the final stages of her battle with cancer. They made special arrangements for us to sit separately. The owner noticed my mother's condition and would always give me a bag filled with soup, cake, and other delicious treats that brought comfort to a dying person. She also sent my mother a lovely card with a message saying "brighter days are ahead". Sadly, a few months later, my father passed away as well. The first call I received was an invitation to bring my son and join them for a special meal on a holy evening. The entire staff signed a card for me with their phone numbers, and inside was a gift card. These people are truly extraordinary. They have no idea how they have helped us through our own tragedies. I am thankful for everything they have done, and they also happen to serve the best baked potatoes in the world. As a vegan, they have always been able to accommodate my dietary needs.

The food was superb and the service was outstanding. We have a son with special needs and our server, Sarah, went above and beyond to accommodate him and make him feel comfortable. This meant a lot to us. We give her 10 stars and thank her for also recommending an ice cream place where our son enjoyed cotton candy ice cream and smiled throughout. This experience was a highlight of our holiday.

I had dinner at the desk. the server was great. with the higher trips I have a higher expectation of eating. I would rather have less food if it means that dinner has a quality that corresponds to the price. the turkey dinner was a complete plate of filling and kartoffels with some turkey breast slices on top and in gravur with some carrots buried on the side.

Our first visit to the windjammer was great!!! You know you first walk into a place and you notice that a) it's packed and b) it smells delicious it's going to be a great experience. 4 out of 5 of us ordered pasta dishes which were very good and the 5th ordered the lamb shank which was a special) I tried his as well and it was delicious! We left with a ton of food as the portions were huge! 5 entrees 2 apps 2 alcoholic beverage 3 sodas all came to a very very reasonable price especially considering how much was left over. Save room for dessert. We didn't get to try it but looked at the display case on the way out and it looked marvelous! The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was great. Can beat that! Oh and they are hiring cooks if anyone is looking for a job ?
