What User doesn't like about The King's Arms Solihull:
nocerella oliven on the menu were not what was served. not all their customers are idiots. Eating was moderate. perhaps an idea of an evening to give the guests the choice to sit with other people children or not. the temperature was quite cool in the restaurant, made the difference between another drink to stay and leave. restaurant area tired and grubby, but the staff was nice. we will not return. Food and service was excellent, staff were attentive. Great ambience. Not so sure about the cutlery on the walls. But a very enjoyable experience
The location and premises are lovely. It was the attention to small detail that was missing. A dirty table outside that needed to be wiped. Perhaps Covid stops them putting salt/pepper etc on the tables or flowers so they were Spartan. It became more chilly and we had to ask for the heaters to be put on and then it began to rain. No staff came out to offer assistance. Eventually we had to bring all our plates in. No staff anywhere to help. They were chatting inside. It was fairly busy. I had the Dirty Burger which was delicious although I asked for greenery to replace the bun, which didn’t happen. My friend had the half chicken and had to wipe away fat running on the plate. It was ‘okay’ she said. The French fries were good. The portions for the price are not generous. I like being able to sit by the canal. With the right weather it’s lovely. The idea of a hot drink and a mini desert for £5.95 was a good one which we took up. I’d sum it up with good try but could do better.
Lunch was for five of us in our late 70s and 80s. Our table was in the window as requested and we were directed to the most comfortable seats. The young staff were attentive and helpful The food was delicious, especially the puddings. The staff even arranged for us to pay separately. They could not have been more obliging. The ambience was comfortable and relaxing. We’ll be back in July !
We booked a table for 4 as our friends have been in France for several months and had only recently returned and just finished quarantine. They hadn’t been out for sometime and had never been to the Kings Arms. We arrived early but we’re shown to our table anyway. All the staff were very friendly and the drinks and food were excellent. There was no rush and we stayed until last orders were called. We’ll definitely be returning again soon. Paul, Naomi, Helen Bede.
The venue is lovely and the staff are friendly and attentive. This was our first visit to The Kings Arms. We ordered our drinks then the waitress came to take our food order which was for 3 Sunday Roasts. The drinks seemed to take a while to come and almost immediately after the food arrived, we were surprised at the speedy arrival of the food. The meat was delicious as was the gravy. The root vegetables were very undercooked to the extent you couldn't get your fork into it. The main problem was that the food was bordering on being cold, luke warm at best. The food tasted delicious but would of been much nicer served hot. With hindsight we should of sent the food back but didn't want to make a fuss.
