The menu at Roux did not justify the price range. Dinner for $30–50 per person felt overpriced for the quality of the food.

Confusion hit us the moment we walked in. The dining room was completely empty, yet we were met with a hesitant, “Did you make a reservation?” We said yes, and were told our table was ready. Maybe the place would fill up soon? It didn’t. We started with some excellent drinks and a tasty appetizer. Half an hour in, the restaurant was still empty. After finishing our drinks and appetizer, our main courses arrived but sat on the table for quite some time. One waiter even seemed annoyed by the lack of space for the plates, but if the previous dishes had been cleared promptly, there would have been plenty of room. Eventually, the dishes were taken away—only after we asked. An hour passed, and the place remained empty. The mains were okay—slightly oily but decent enough to enjoy. After an hour and a half, another table finally arrived. Why only two stars? The staff were neither particularly friendly nor very efficient. The food was decent, and the drinks were very good—almost worthy of their own star. At two and a half hours in, it was still just us and one other table. To be fair, they do offer outdoor seating. Still, the initial skeptical reservation question felt unnecessary. This place has a lot of potential but clearly needs a lot of fine-tuning.

American cuisine at its best! Each dish was expertly crafted and tasted even better than it looked. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and laid-back. Prices are quite affordable. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I ate at this restaurant around four years ago, and I can't get it out of my mind. My husband and I used a Groupon for our meal and ordered a tomahawk steak, garlic mashed potatoes, chicken skin fries, and crispy Brussels sprouts—everything was absolutely unforgettable. Now that I live more than an hour away, I've been thinking about making a special trip back because it was just THAT amazing!

As more guests started to arrive, we found ourselves still the only ones seated at the bar. Ronnie greeted us and prepared our first drinks, letting us know about their happy hour specials ($5 each) from 4 PM to 6 PM, which was perfect for us. He gave us menus and walked us through the specials. I decided to try the happy hour special of oysters on the half shell for $2 each, and they were fantastic! My wife chose the fresh burrata tomato salad topped with grilled chicken for $21, and she loved it. (By the way, you can add chicken, shrimp, salmon, or steak to any salad.) I ordered the shrimp and grits for $26, which were bursting with flavor and came in a generous portion. For dessert, we decided to order another round of drinks. Our total came to $81. If you're dining with four or more people, I highly recommend trying their cheese charcuterie board for $32; we saw it on our way to our table and plan to order it next time. The ambiance was lovely for a larger space. Here are their hours: - Monday: Closed - Tuesday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Wednesday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Thursday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Friday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Saturday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Sunday: Closed We had a wonderful first visit to Roux. It was a pleasure to see Ronnie behind the bar, which enhanced our experience. Thank you, Ronnie! We will definitely return and spread the word about Roux. Best, Nick & Liz, Albany, NY
