What a difference from our fist experience at this restaurant!! This time we were at the Sawridge for lunch. I had the Beef Taco Salad while my husband had their breakfast special of Ham and Eggs. My salad came in a delicious taco bowl loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, green onions with a generous amount of ground beef and melted cheese on top with salsa and sour cream on the side. It tasted as good as it looked! My hus... View all feedback.
Amazing butter chicken. The waiter told me it was the best in Alberta. He wasn’t wrong. I’ve been craving Indian food and had no idea I could get it in Slave Lake. I would recommend this in a heartbeat! I really enjoyed every bite! For anyone who likes liver and onions/bacon .... it’s very good here as well. The service is top notch. And if you are lucky you might get to hear some singing.
We always come here for breakfast! Our server today seemed to have forgotten about us, but Gina came to the rescue and provided us with amazing service!! We will definitely request to be seated in her section next time, highly recommended! The food is always fantastic too!
Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, Chinese or Western food, the Sawridge Cafe has great meals. When the buffet is on, the food is good and it’s kept well stocked. Depending on which server you have, service can range from excellent (your coffee cup never is empty) to mediocre or poor (you only get a refill if you flag her down and ask for it, then wait til she gets around to it, or ask another server). Overall, a great place to eat. I only gave it a 4 because of a couple of the servers.
I ordered a Chinese combo plate and my husband ordered fish and chips. His order arrived before mine did his two pieces of fish were very dark, over cooked and greasy. When my plate full of food arrived (large portions) I could hardly wait to dig in! What a disappointment!! I couldn't get my fork into the ginger beef. I tried to bite it but my teeth wouldn't go through it. The sauce tasted old with very little to no ginger flavour. I asked the waiter if it was ginger beef on my plate. He checked with the cook. He returned with more sauce (which still tasted liked old, warmed over generic sauce) and assured me that the cook had sent out ginger beef. The rice and chow mien were okay but definitely nothing to write home about. The service was pretty good. He told the manager about my ginger beef he apologized and reduced the cost of my meal. The portions were good. I would give this restaurant a second chance could have been an off night for some reason. There were quite a few eating there which suggests it's usually fairly decent.
Had lunch at Sawridge truck stop. The Chinese cuisine was delicious and the service was great. The atmosphere was typical of a truck stop, but clean and the staff were friendly.
