Texas 1809 - Slaton
Texas 1809
Description
Tucked in small‑town Slaton, this unpretentious spot pairs warm, attentive service and a family‑friendly patio with standout dishes — think chicken‑fried steak, fried catfish, burgers, specialty drinks and banana pudding — alongside uneven fryer‑dependent items (overbattered pickles, fish, mac and cheese) and occasional kitchen slips. Prices and to‑go service appeal to locals and travelers; the bar shows sports and staff are welcoming to kids. Expect casual charm and great drinks, but be mindful of inconsistent fried offerings.

My favorite daytime server is Lisa! She's extremely professional, courteous, and always helpful to everyone who calls in to place an order, as well as to those who come in for a dine-in experience. I don't mean to sound repetitive, but she really knows her stuff! On the few occasions I've visited the restaurant/bar at night to catch a football or basketball game, I've enjoyed being served by Rylea. She's really sweet, and she makes an amazing Jameson and Coke, which is a big plus for me!
Food is fantastic... chicken fry, fried catfish, jalapeño poppers are some of my favs. The banana pudding is to die for and they always have specialty drinks. It's family friendly and the patio in the summer is fun.
I absolutely adore this restaurant! It has a charming small-town atmosphere with amazing food and even better service. The drinks are outstanding, and we always have a fantastic time when we visit. I especially appreciate the outdoor seating during warmer weather; it's great not having to make the kids sit still when they want to play before or after our meal. The owners and their family are wonderful, and we take every opportunity to go there. Kid-friendliness is definitely my favorite aspect!
