Holy sweet good God in heaven. I've been to some five star restaurants in my time, but I've never been to such a small restaurant with such high quality gourmet food. The presentation: superb. The flavors: amazing. The quality: fresh. They grow everything in the garden backyard, and boy can you taste. I had the salmon grilled cheese and the flourless chocolate cake. My taste buds couldn't thank me more. View all feedback.
Beautiful setting overlooking the gardens, service was great. I had the rhubarb mimosa and the duck salad, my husband had the salmon BLT and they were all delicious. A very lovely meal and destination.
Our family's favorite lunch destination! The food is fresh and how much of it is home-grown! Not to mention you get to eat in a beautiful Conservatory overlooking a stunning organic show Garden! I had the duck salad and my daughter had the fancy (fromage grille) grilled cheese sandwich! Absolutely delightful!
Most of the food at this resturaunt is grown right on sight at the organic garden that surrounds it. Anything that is not directly from their garden is also local from Skagway. The food is so fresh and full of flavor. The setting is magical!!!! Before or after you eat you can stroll through the beautiful Jewel Gardens and do some glass blowing. It is a must visit if you are in Skagway.
Poppie's was an absolutely excellent experience and one I was very surprised by. This was booked as a part of our cruise ship tour package and I wasn't expecting much... but as soon as we arrived and got off the bus I was charmed. This place is basically a little tea-house cafe with fresh-made local food sourced from the on-site garden. Um, yes. That is the kind of place I always hunt out when I'm traveling (and at home) so I was thrilled when I discovered this was where we were eating. They were expecting us (our group was probably 30-40 people) and had the tables set and ready to go. Each table was set for tea and lunch and featured some of the glass art from the on-site glass studio (cute). We were poured warm rose tea and then given fresh bread. Our food was out quickly and was a veggie quiche with a small side salad and some veggie soup. YUM. Everything was amazing and I could've eaten more. It was hearty, it was healthy, it was fresh and it tasted homemade. After we finished our meal we were shown around the property and given a small tour explaining the gardens, studio, etc. My husband and I dipped out early because we wanted to have time to shop in the city before the ship departed so we walked the 15-20 minutes back to the city and enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful summer day in Alaska. This place is a gem. You can have an excellent meal and shop and walk around viewing a garden afterwards. A
A fantastic discovery just away from the tourist crowds. It’s a peaceful place with a lovely atmosphere, and the food was exceptional.
