We were in Haines over the long weekend and decided to check out Fireweed for the first time. The place was already buzzing with activity and no tables were available, so we sat at the bar. The friendly bartender brought us some amazing Dalton Trail Ales from the Haines Brewing Company and we just chatted as we waited to share our large, 'Rolls Royce ' pizza. Once it came the smell alone was phenomenal. As one of the... View all feedback.
What Tycho Aussie doesn't like about Fireweed Restaurant:
You win some, you lose some. No practical gluten free options, unless you want to pay a large upcharge. Unfortunately for us, all my wife could order was a salad, and their interpretation of a vinaigrette dressing is more of a paste with the flavor of worcestershire?? Anyway, it was a dud with the spouse. My calzone was decent, and the spruce tip ale was great. Service took nearly an hour to get served, and the acous... View all feedback.
We waited over 75 mins for a pizza and finally left after we were told our pizza had to be next. We watched 7 pizzas come out and still none. No we are really sorry just told over and over that is was busy and we need to wait our turn. We were warn by several locals to not go here because this was a common issue and several others had got up and left of late. Try another restaurant in town. One Star for tolal lack of concern. So sad.
Delicious hand-made pizza, calzones, salads, desserts, wine, local beer, great service and atmosphere. Gorgeous ocean views off the deck. Highly recommended!
Casual local spot in Haines but I'm sorry the pizza is average. I am Italian and the crust is not fresh dough. The salads however looked like large generous portions and made me wish I'd ordered one. Prices are average for this area- it is Alaska after all. The building itself is historic and a sight to see for sure. It was built by the Army as an original structure for Fort Seward. Beautiful restoration and use of a historic place. Nice bar and the desserts looked fabulous.
Three adults had dinner at the Fireweed during out stay in Haines. The service was great and the pizza was perfectly tasty. I would recommend this an enjoyable place to go.
Went to the fireweed after we heard Sarah runs it, instead of her espresso and sandwich shack, which was always THE spot to go. Had the classic and the portobello burger. Both very good, the classic burger patty was perfect for me medium rare. Could have been a bit warmer but hey the place was super busy and we are not talking a Michelin restaurant. We liked the food, the atmosphere and the attitude of the waitresses.
