Contribute Feedback What Daniel B doesn't like about Niew Amsterdam:
I have to say I was very excited about the experience and had to wait two days because they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Having done the factory tour in the Bahamas, now closed btw and tours of BACARDÍ elsewhere I would have to say this place is a waste of time. The tour guides were polite, but the bartender teaching the class had attitude!. I'll never be back here and would recommend a YouTube class instead. View all feedback.
Drinks: 5/5 (depends, you make it yourself) Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor Style: 5/5 The best beverage tour i 've ever been to! Not only do they give you a history tour of Bacardi, but they also show you step by step how to make an original Bacardi Cuban Mojito! And yes, you get to drink what you make. The tour group size is small, so it makes it even more personal (I think our group had 12-15 people). It typically costs 8 Euro per person, unless you can find a free/discount deal/coupon somewhere else. There 's nothing much else I can say. I 'll quote some of the things from the website and just view my pics and you 'll surely get the jist. The tours are guided by BACARDI Brand Ambassador member of the seventh generation of the family to lead the audience through the four areas that make up the center. An impressive Lounge bar representing the BACARDI the XXI century. Besides being an avant-garde aesthetic space, is a school where visitors receive, at the hands of professional mixologists, a master class preparation known as Original BACARDI cocktails like the Mojito, Cuba Libre, Daiquiri and Pina Colada. After the customized training, visitors have the opportunity to taste their own Original BACARDI Cocktails on the terrace outside the resort which enjoys a warm and friendly atmosphere. The visitor center is located in the historic Mercat Vell, modernist building built in 1890 by architect Gaietà Buigas and located in the old town of Sitges, next to City Hall. Just a FYI, the building is just north of the Museum Maricel de Mar.
Visiting Casa Bacardi was one of my main reasons for visiting Sitges. I wanted a day trip to a smaller town, and I found it really interesting that Bacardi had this connection to Spain. The tour wouldn 't book properly online so I contacted Bacardi directly to ask for assistance. They were very prompt in answering and helped me get placed on the tour. The staff online and in Sitges was incredibly friendly and helpful. The tour was pretty basic in terms of rum making, but the history portion was interesting. Next was the portion where they show us how to make cocktails. They demonstrated a couple of different ones, a mojito and a Cuba libre. Then I was shocked at what came next. Everyone was supposed to take a straw and try it as in the same drink in the same cup. I 'm sorry, but that is disgusting. Backwash happens, friends! I was so grossed out. They did that for the next drink as well. What was left in the glass after everyone 's straw sucking was then offered as, Hey guys! It 's free! Seriously?! Needless to say, I didn 't try these drinks. I think they should have poured them into little sample cups like the rum we tried or not have us sample them at all. Even stranger, I seemed to be the only person bothered by this. Perhaps everyone was feeling loopy from the rum samples? Then we made our own drinks which was more sanitary. I made a mojito and although I 've made mojito before, their method was a little different, so I learned something. They also had that good ice which makes an excellent mojito, you know what I 'm talking about, the little crushed ice they have at places like Sonic. The whole ten people sharing a drink thing really wasn 't ok. I wouldn 't do this tour unless you were in the area and have run out of things to do.
