No choice at dinner, but this is not a drawback as each meal I have had here has been excellent. The food combines simplicity, elegance and flavour in a way that is not matched by any other restaurant I have found in many visits to this area of France. View all feedback.
What Martine Lombard doesn't like about Chateau de Siran:
We stayed in the Chateau as a Valentine's Day treat. The hotel is very nice, but the meal was a big disappointment. The service started only at No choice, set menu take it or leave it. Only courses and not well done....The soupe was served nearly cold. The main course a bit of Pintade was served on a risotto, that was so salty that it killed any other taste that there might have been. Dessert was a little apple tart,... View all feedback.
Beautiful hotel restored from a very character-filled old chateau to a very high spec.
A great hotel very accommodating staff the village is friendly and we were welcomed by everyone worth a visit and stay
I have been lucky enough to stay here on two occasions and have enjoyed the food enormously. This time, staying nearby with friends, I brought them here for dinner and they were captivated by the ambience and the food. There is no choice of courses...here but they were able to cater for a vegetarian when notified in advance. The food was simple, elegant and perfectly cooked and presented, with interesting flavour combinations including a starter of red mullet and bacon on pesto with tiny tomatoes and a main course of beautifully cooked pork fillet with goat's cheese and a salad of roasted pineapple and peppers. The dessert was a stunning sugar glazed lemon choux. All this for only euros each plus a bottle of very good local Borie de Maurel for only euros. It would be difficult to find a meal of this quality anywhere else at such a price.
We booked in here last minute for two days in mid-summer and got a large room. The reception was excellent, the room was excellent and we decided to eat there too. The menu was fixed, three-course but they had flexibility for my gluten and lactose-free...wife. Superb choice of local wines and even a few local spirits (Pastis from Carcassonne recommended). I would definitely stay here again, very peaceful.
Siran is a delightful small town of people surrounded by vineyards and wine makers! This hotel fits in perfectly with its surroundings. It is classy [understated], comfortable with bilingual service (English French) and its restaurant, while offering limited choice excels at what is...presented for all meals! Definitely worthy of its star rating!!
