Decent food ambiance and service. Most importantly I had a vegetarian option! The vegetarian bee Hoon was packed with gluten char Siew and stewed meat. wouldn’t have been my choice but it was very well presented and there was decent portion of vegetables, dates, mushroom and even geiji! All for $5.25. View all feedback.
After reading the glowing reviews about the food at Mt Alvernia Hospital, I was curious to try it out during my medical appointment. Upon arrival, I was seated and provided with an iPad to place my order, which had a wide variety of options. I ultimately chose vegetarian hor fun (flat rice noodles), while my companion opted for wanton noodles. Both dishes were delicious, with generous portions and ample ingredients. It was clear that great care was taken to ensure the vegetables were thoroughly cleaned, and the broth was made with soybeans. The service was also commendable; the staff were friendly and attentive, and the café was very clean. Unfortunately, Grab food delivery wasn’t an option. One thing to note is to remember to settle the bill after dining, as there was an incident during my visit where a customer neglected to do so, causing quite a scene among the waitstaff. Such occurrences shouldn't tarnish the reputation of this honest and humble eatery.
If you’re taken aback by the high ratings of a small eatery located in a hospital, rest assured that your perception is correct. Cafe 820 may have a modest appearance and the lighting tends to be quite dim, but the flavors of their food are truly impressive. My personal favorite dish is their Laksa, and I've also heard great things about the Hokkien Mee. If you find yourself at Mt A, be sure to try their food!
I ordered takeaway Hokkien mee, and when I opened the container, the aroma was incredible. The noodles were very flavorful and had a great texture. The moisture level was perfect.
This small corner cafe is really a life saver. I had 2 meals here while my son is having an eye (day) surgery done at mt alvernia. A place to grab a decent quick meal, price is reasonable too.
