Hai Nan Hometown Curry - Singapore

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, but it always closes early, so I could never make it after work. I finally managed to arrive before closing time, and I must say, their curry is impressive. It's not overly spicy, greasy, or coconut-heavy; all the flavors blend together beautifully. The portion size is quite generous as well. I ordered the small curry mutton with a side of rice for just 50 cents, and it was still quite substantial. The sauce is slightly thickened with starch, which is perfectly fine — I've had curries that were overly thick and resembled slime or glue, but this one was just right. There was plenty of meat in the curry, along with two large chunks of perfectly cooked potatoes that just melted in your mouth. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Overall, I waited about 15 minutes for my food while standing in line behind four people. The wait was absolutely worth it, and the delicious food is suitable for any day of the week.

I really enjoy the curry at this restaurant and I wholeheartedly recommend it! You can choose a main dish, like the chicken cutlet curry rice, and add a small bowl of vegetable curry for only $1. If you're in the mood for a larger serving of those tasty curry vegetables, you can get a big bowl for $3. I always leave feeling full and satisfied after my meal.

The $1 extra charge for the vegetable curry is definitely worth it. The lamb curry has a rich lamb flavor, which indicates that they prepare each curry separately.
