Breaking Waves
4.1 / 5 (159 reviews)

Description

Breaking Waves pairs a creative, largely vegan‑friendly menu with a solid craft‑beer lineup: vegan beer cheese, gochujang/tofu wings, brisket sandwiches and hand‑cut fries earn praise for flavor and generous portions. The atmosphere is pleasant and often complemented by attentive staff, but experiences vary—some diners report slow service, cold or overcooked dishes, and an unpopular charge for ketchup. A strong pick for vegans and beer lovers, but come ready to temper expectations about speed and consistency.

The brewery is no longer in operation. The restaurant that has taken its place offers excellent service, but the food is just average.

I cannot rave enough about this gem of a restaurant! My fiance and I both have some dietary restrictions and eat vegan as a result. The menu here had no shortage of options, and everything we ordered was appetizing and delicious. I was shocked at how great the vegan beer cheese was! I also had the gochujang tofu wings, which were to die for. Our waiter was awesome, and the environment is just lovely. If I could give 100 stars I would!

I can't say enough great things about Breaking Waves! The vegan options here are fantastic, and it was refreshing to browse a menu filled with several delicious choices. Our waiter was excellent, too. I highly recommend trying the vegan beer cheese and the gochujang wings!

The food was outstanding, and the beer was equally impressive. I tried a raspberry saison that was incredibly delicious.

Have been to this brewery twice now in the last month with the same poor, slow, and inattentive service. Food, menu and beer were all great. Sad, because there are many things on the menu that we'd like to try but not sure if we'll be back. Biggest turnoff was when asking for ketchup for our French fries we were told it would be 25 cents per person for a tiny dollop of ketchup! Our party of 4 all had the same reaction....it would have been more palatable for the fish/chip price to be 25 cents more, than to charge an extra 25 cents for ketchup because your fish and chips came with tarter sauce! A little embarrassing for me as I recommended the place for our dinner. One person's comment was that the profit margin shouldn't rest on the condiments! Disappointing as I really want to like this place!
