Unassuming atmosphere, completely vegan. You can relax here. The dessert case is amazing and you can even order a whole cake for special occasions if you get your order in a week in advance.

The original owners eventually... read more Years ago, this restaurant deserved 10 stars. From enthusiastic owners and chefs, to a super menu and total attention to detail. The original owners eventually retired, the original chef went elsewhere and the restaurant moved location from its charming Rockville location. I do understand that change and new ownership is sometimes daunting. The new version of Vegetable Garden is by no means bad. It does have tasty dishes and a great vegan menu. I just miss the spark, energy, and commitment of the original. Then, it was a happening, and a lifestyle experience. Now it is a business. Yes, it is a good business, but the spark and spontaneity is not there. The food is good, the service ranges from per-functionary to cold. The prices have gone way up. It is now more like a franchise establishment with cookie cutter elements. I would love to see George go back to the original ideals and spark of Vegetable Garden. This restaurant will always retain a soft spot in my heart, as I ate there for so many years.

It was a busy night and they were short staffed but the server was able to bring our appetizers and entrees out in a timely manner. I absolutely loved the crispy mushrooms and lentil soup. Themushrooms were very meaty and the flavors were wonderful. The eggplant and soba noodles had the perfect amount of seasoning toexcite my palate. I will be returning!
