Thai at Silver Spring is a decent Thai restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. The menu is extensive, and they have a lot of traditional Thai dishes, as well as a mix of not so traditional dishes for those with less sophisticated palates. I ordered the traditional Thai dish of “basil chicken” or “ka pow.” They have two version on the menu, one is the traditional Thai way of diced meat, and the other version is sliced for people who do not want minced chicken. Anyway, the basil chicken wasn’t bad, the portion was generous, maybe too generous, but the flavor was too sweet – and trust me on this, I lived in Thailand and know how this dish should taste. My partner’s dish was not a traditional Thai dish, also a huge portion, so at least you are getting a lot for your money. The papaya salad wasn’t bad, not the best, but I could eat it again. They also have an extensive alcohol menu, but PLOT TWIST, they do not currently have an alcohol license so not sure why they even handout the drink menu. In summary, not a bad place if you really have an itch for Thai food, but the Thai restaurants in Virginia are much better and more authentic. 3/5 Service: Dine in Price per person: $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection
DO NOT EAT HERE , If you do use cash .They swiped my card at 4:30pm by 6:30pm they had used my card info to fraudulently take $223.50 off at an ATM in silver spring . If I could give zero stars i would. Service: Dine in
Honestly, my girlfriend and I didn't expect much when we came in desperate for food after running errands. Furthermore, I am VERY picky with Thai food. After living in New York City, it can be difficult to find Thai restaurants that live up to Brooklynquality. I was amazed at how good our four appetizers were. The peanut sauce was the second best I have ever had and I foundmyself wanting much, much more of it. The tofu was nice and dry and cooked perfectly. My partner's mussels were in her words the bomb dot com . The prices are a little high but the quality and large portions easily make up for that. Staff is nice andvery helpful. Would come again and recommend to others. Ignore the one-star reviews on here. They're mostly incredibly entitledand ocassionally racist.
I was really looking forward to trying this spot because I?ve only heard good things but the customer service is pretty non existent. I have a gluten allergy and typically Thai is good because they don?t use a lot of gluten. I ordered a crispy duck (noindication that it had gluten from the menu). Upon taking the first bite, I noticed a light breading. I picked up the phone andcalled to confirm before I got sick. I was connected to what seemed like the manager. After verifying that it was indeed breadedwith flour, I was told that ?I should?ve known better?. This led to myself and the woman going back and forth because the menudid not say that it was breaded so I?m not too sure what I should be knowing better about. The interaction was disrespectfulconsidering I had paid $30+ and had my health compromised. If this is how the establishment deals with customers then I?m good,Kin Da would never.
