This was my first trip to Sigourney and when we arrived we found out that a couple of the other spots we were thinking about eating at were closed on Mondays. T... read more This was my first trip to Sigourney and when we arrived we found out that a couple of the other spots we were thinking about eating at were closed on Mondays. The Copper Lantern was right on the corner of the square. It had a great small town feel as a bar and restaurant. My party was made to feel like we were some of the locals as a couple of different nearby tables included us in a couple of their conversations. The service was great and the menu had a nice selection. Our party had a Western Burger, Breaded Tenderloin, Chicken Strips, and a Sampler. They were all excellent. The cole slaw I had as my side was good and two others had a side of potato salad that they said was the best they have had in years. We will have to try one of the steaks on the menu the next time we drop by the Copper Lantern.

The... read more I have tried over and over hoping for a really good experience. It's literally a crapshoot. The baked potatoes are cooked through fifty percent of the time. The steaks are never cooked to order and usually tough and grisly. The side salad comes in a bowl so small that everything falls out of it when you try to take a bite. The last three steaks I got were an absolute waste of money. The salmon is usually their best thing. Tonight I asked for blackened seasoning... Extra seasoning since the last time it had almost no flavor. I also asked for it to be cooked well. Apparently they thought that meant burn the heck out of it until it's black. I had to peel the entire outside off which was charred to oblivion. Yet the inside was still undercooked. And there was no seasoning on it. My first potato apparently exploded. So they brought me a second one which was so hard I couldn't put my fork through it.I'm done! I have spent more money there than I care to think about it. The atmosphere is very unfriendly and unwelcoming. The service is also a crapshoot unless you get Ashley who's awesome.
