My daughter decided to celebrate her 18th birthday in Siena, the place where she was born. We went to the Pierini bakery to order her birthday cake. She wanted chocolate but since it was going to be very warm, and quite a few elderly friends were going to participate, we finally settled for a lemon mousse cake semifreddo. This very modern, clean and fresh looking small Pasticceria is located on the via dei Rossi on the right as you walk down towards the Basilica di San Francesco. We stopped in here several times on our morning walks for coffee and a pastry. Good selection of pastries and good coffee. The view out the back windows of the shop, where there are several tables and chairs, though you have to navigate a few stairs, is very interesting. Service was always friendly.
We were wandering around Siena after lunch. Came upon this place and had to use the bathroom. So we decided to buy the dessert as a way of saying thanks. Tried the doughnuts and they were good and fresh. Had to buy couple of times, since they were good. Had not had any doughnuts in a while. The place was small but nice.
While following the signs to San Francisco Basilica we happened upon this small shop that offers a good variety of pastries and other baked goods. The cakes on display loked wonderful too. We found the quality to be good and fresh plus the prices were very reasonable.

We picked it up around 6pm, kept it in the fridge and ate it around 9pm. The nutella mille foglie was equally light and old and young loved it. The decorations were creative and pretty. Both cakes were equally good the next day when we had leftovers for lunch : . (Kept in the fridge of course.
Of my 3 days in Siena, all were started here. On my final day I walked in and was greeted with a welcome back. Did not even order my double expresso as it was sitting on the counter after choosing my pastries. I will miss you tomorrow.
