Amok - Siemreab

Very nice place to eat in this area. They have both indoor and outdoor seats, and the food and drinks are cheap. The presentation of the food is also very interesting; I got cashew chicken served in a bowl of banana leaves. The only problem was that her sound system dragged the same song over and over, and when we finally asked her to change it, they skipped a new song that repeated over and over... the server seemed surprised, but, I think it might have been a one-time problem.

Although I spend a lot of time in Cambodia and have eaten a lot of Cambodian food, I'm not really a fan of Cambodia restaurants designed to please strange tastes. When I was asked to try the food in Amok, I was a little hesitant. The court that is called amok is actually one that I don't like so much. Amok is a Cambodian curry wrapped in banana leaves and then steamed until it is completely boiled. I have eaten this dish in Thailand quite a lot and it is very similar, but the curry spices are somewhat different. I personally prefer the Thai version, but I must admit the tasting set menu that I tried at Amok Restaurant was very interesting. By trying a number of different versions of Cambodian Amok in one session, I learned to appreciate it much more. So my advice is to try this kind of food, you will find more than likely a few varieties of amok that will be to your desires. The final result of this experiment for me was that it is much easier for me to choose an amok in a Cambodia restaurant.

Maybe my favorite place to get cambodian food in Cambodia. Absolutely amazing food and beautiful food setup in the real cambodian way! Can't wait to visit again, I wish this place was in my own country!

Great amok discovery set. A bit expensive for Siem Reap but the restaurant is nice has Wi-Fi and is managed by European standard (big and clean toilet for those who ask. Food was delicious

Great but overpriced place to grab a bite to eat. Tough to justify 14usd fo Amok when Pub Street and 1-3$ anything are just around the corner. If you treat this like it deserves...less authentic Cambodian experience and more upscale dining experience then you will be very happy. If you are looking to eat like the locals this isn't the place for you. Portions we're GIANT and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I recommend going to a place like this once during your trip and then enjoying the cheaper and more down to earth places for the rest of the time. Oh and even though it goes without saying do yourself a favor and order the 5 Types of Amok.
